Republicans are backing this legislation

That is your first clue that this new bill is wanting to ram you in your nether regions as hard and fast as they can.

Republicans don't give a crud about you. They ONLY care about their corporate donors. Many democrats are like that, but for the most part no Republican cares about your rights over the rights of a company to enslave you.

If you don't believe me then you're not in-the-know enough to realize that there are representatives who say stuff like "Free/Reduced lunch programs in schools are morally wrong because those kids should be eating breakfast with their family at the table, not going to school for a free meal"

Republican senators don't know what it's like to be a hard working person who likes technology, but sees the prices go up, the quality of service go down, and the features that you used to enjoy becoming premium things you have to pay even more for. We need FCC to have MORE freedom so that they can prevent companies from lowering the bandwidth caps (both over the air, and wireline) to the point that it crushes innovation.

It's the FCC that said Comcast can't block P2P traffic whether it's Skype (they use P2P) bit torrent or World of Warcraft. It's the FCC that separates the frequencies so that your GPS doesn't interfere with your ability to make phone calls.

The FCC cares a HELL of a lot more about your rights than most of those Paid for Republicans, many of the paid for Democrats, and all of the business' who are "investing" millions upon millions of dollars buying out senators so that they can charge more money, for less features and services with absolutely no recourse. Look at ATT. You can't do a class action lawsuit and you certainly can't arbitrate above a certain dollar amount and if the dollar amount isn't high enough it's too expensive to arbitrate, which means that you have literally no recourse when a company wants to mess you up, because the companies seem to basically be conspiring to mess you up. Which is why when 1 company makes a 5KB text message go from 20 cents to 25 cents, they all do. Or when one company goes from a 150 early termination fee to a 250-350 early termination fee they all do.

The FCC is our last refuge before lawyers get involved to do anything for ourselves.
