Ok, just checked the VZW site and this is what they say: "And with Bluetooth wireless technology, you can make hands-free, eyes-free calls, and connect to your PC or PDA whenever and wherever you want."

I was under the impression from reading the forums on this site that the bluetooth on this phone does NOT have wireless connectivity to the PC........Is this a Verizon typo......or are the Brainiacs on phonescoop lieing to us?

No offense, just trying to get a little rise out of y'all......

I'd go byond typo - and call it misinformation. My understanding is that the 710 does not support OBEX - or any of the bluetooth profiles beyond the handsfree profile - and the profile that allows the phone to operate as a modem.

This is the reason I've decided t...

Wireless (bluetooth) file transfer capability will be here in approximately 2-4 weeks.

Verizon will be calling all current v710 owners and instructing them to return to the Verizon store for a full software flash.

The new phones will already have the new software which will at that time support all Bluetooth functionality.

is that confirmed? it's been widely reported the phone was shipped without a final firmware update, but nobody seems to knnow 100% what that will be. also will this be BT standard and work on Mac/Linux or just microsoft?

i know right now some Mac users can use BT to use the phone as a modem, it connects fine like that, but anything else requires a USB cable. it's caused quite a few people to return their phones, it's odd that Verizon didn't tell the people to hold tight when they returned the phones if this firmware fix will solve the issue. then again verizon doesn't support anything but windows users really anyway.

I have the V710. You can connect it to your PDA or PC but only for the purpose of dialing out to the Internet or some other network.
I use it everyday. It works great with my iPAQ.

Apparently, there will be a firmware update allowing for the transfer of files / syncing between your PC/PDA. It is not a hardware limitation.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I too have an iPaq and V710 and would like to transfer some of my address book nos. to the V710. Can you use a transflash memory card to do this?

Well, I'm happy for all you folks that have your V710 working with Palm T3. The reps around here were no help. I have tried most of what all of you have said. It seems to be a crap shoot! One person gets it to work and 5 don't. This is not what I would call a great phone. It took VZW way..... to long to bring the V710 out to be having these problems. As always VZW has good coverage, but nothing more!

To be honest with you, I am not sure about the transflash. The lack phonebook transfer, while inconvenient, is not a killer for me. If you go to VZW, they will transfer your numbers for you with the cable. I'm hoping within a month, the bluetooth will be fixed with a firmware update.
