If they'll do pure ICS, or hose it with Sense. :/ I like HTC devices, their build quality, etc - but not Sense.

Isn't sense mostly widgets? If theres something you don't want on one of your homescreens, you can just drag it off the screen, right?

Sense is a UI, user interface, that has tweaked android homescreen, that includes sense widgets, a tweaked app launcher, and some settings only sense users have.

So how customizable are the homescreens compared to non-sense smartphones? Can you still make folders?

I know my droid x and a friends original droid both can make folders on the homescreen. But then there's 3rd party launchers that come into the mix as well.

I have Go Launcher. It's pretty cool!!! When I flick between homescreens it turns the homescreens into squares, very, very cool! And the row of buttons at the bottom are indeed customizable. Whereas on regular touchwiz those buttons aren't customizable.

Samsung smartphones I haven't spent much time with, so touch wiz is kinda an unknown area for me.

I've had my Droid Charge for almost 6 full months, happy with it so far. Though I still miss having a smartphone wwith a REAL keyboard. I still can't get over how long it took Vzn to offer a 4G smartphone with a REAL keyboard.

All android phones are customizable depends on how far the user wants to go.

I agree, and mine is very customized (Droid Incredible w/CM7).

My main gripe with Sense is the delay in "official" OS updates because they have to be fiddled with by HTC before being made available to the carriers.

Well that's what they all do. Who just put S/W out there that is not tested. Even the carriers test it too before sending to the phones.

No, it's a lot more than widgets. They tweak and add a lot to the interface. You get more customization options for your home screen and main menu. The contacts app has a lot more messaging and social integration. There are also skins that change the colors and textures of the whole interface.

So widgets can be dragged n drooped off the screen if their not wanted, right? I don't see anything objectionable about Sense.

Well, yes, you can remove unwanted widgets. But my point is that Sense is much more than widgets.

Is there a review you have specifically of Sense 3.5?

So the HTC Inspire I purchased 2 months ago won't be upgraded to the latest OS, but the iPhone I purchased 2 years ago was.

Either ICS is really processor intensive or they simply do not give a flying crap.

Manufacturers want money not you on old products when they can lure you to spend more money.

Well I know for a fact the HTC Thunderbolt will not get it just because ofall the issues its been having with all the other updates and plus they just delivered gingerbread to us. And on another note the HTC Vigor (Thunderbolt 2) will be released soon and I'm sure it will come with ICS in it. I see it being released after the Samsung Nexus for VZW comes out. I give it December or January.
