For future Android devices, it should not be a problem.

But current devices...yeah, the fragmentation will still be there.

Hell, I'm still waiting for my mytouch 4G to get 2.3. Lol

What I wonder is if apps that have not been updated using the ICS SDK will have a problem runnin on ICS smartphones. The reason I think this is because menu button layouts will be different, for example on ICS there is what's called the "action bar", which will require developers to completly redisign menu, and option layouts.

So I'm curious if apps that have NOT yet been updated using the ICS SDK will work on ICS smartphones. Cause I intend to get the Galaxy Nexus.

I'm sure it will be backward compatible for the most part...

T-Mobile is rolling out 2.3 until the end of 2011, so you should receive it soon. If you dont get it by then go to a T-Mobile retail store.

We don't, but there may be issues with existing phones (hardware limitations, carrier/manufacturers not willing to spend resources on the updates) that will make us not see ICS. However, since android releases have calmed down to about 2/yr, it should probably be easy to update phones without the fragmentation issue.

At least they gave some extra on the update. Ice Cream will come soon. But we got a feat that only HTC Sense 3.0 has which is the weather sound effects. I'm not complaining bout anything. I'm just happy the rebooting stopped. Technology fries too fast to have the lastest in software. If ice cream doesn't come it wouldn't matter because I'm going to get the HTC Vigor (Thunderbolt II) which will more likely have it. I'm a fan of HTC. They still make the better Android phone.

I agree with ya, ICS will most likely be a no show.

Unofficially though, there will be plenty of options. I wish carriers would agree for swift updates for atleast 2 years on their phones (to reflect contract length).
