That can all apply to data caps on smartphones as well. Putting caps in place to make sure everyone gets their fair share of the network is one of the rationales behind data caps (besides the money behind overages). Why would that be different between smartphones or mobile broadband customers? Smartphones can use up exorbitant amounts of data as well.
This is what sets Sprint apart from the competition and why Sprint will continue to be the best value in wireless for smart phones.
Read your T&C's. If you roam off of Sprint's network (which is easy to do), and exceed 300MB or 800 mins in a billing period, Sprint reserves the right to term or disco you. Plain and simple.
As for keeping Unlimited Data? It will change. There are too many different ways for Sprint to change it's data pricing yet still offer Unlimited. Maybe instead of a $10 charge, next year it will be $20 etc.

Sprint in single form, does not have the spectrum means to stay as competitive as ATT and VZW. However, in contrast, Their partnership with Clearwire gives them a great advantage in what needs to be accomplished.
Two things need to happen here to keep Sprint out of the danger zone.
1) Their focus on LightSquared is a mistake. In my opinion, it's a fallacy. They need to move on. Given LightSquared's regulation issues with the FCC over the GPS' cross interferences with LightSquared...
