Review: Apple iPhone 4S for AT&T

No offense taken John, except for the "generation" comment. We maybe of the same generation! As I noted in my post, I have a 3g. It's 3 1/2 years old, slow and not as responsive as it should be hence the purchase. I'm sure many people have bought an item thinking "well it fits most of my needs". You may have also. I believe the iphone is better suited to my needs than other phones out there. Based on those "needs" I made the plunge.

Oh yeah, the 2nd phone is for my college age son whose iphone 3g is dying.

So I have my reasons and your pontificating on what I should do really doesn't impress/matter me.
