Very well said, This seems to be so true with many phone purchases these days and especially true with Apple.
I am not knocking them either. I own Apple desktops, laptops that suit me well, then I decided to give the 4s a try.
It's lacking in several key areas for me that I need. I can't afford to choose to live with what are real annoyances in IOS for me, so mine is going back but i suspect many will buy an iPhone and choose to hope for the next one to address what they want.
This type of rationale is every companies dream to get consumers into and Apple has figured out the magic formula for the time being.
The practical side of me says to kick this phone to the curb but there is still that part of me that says. "what the heck are you doing? Everyone wants these?"
