It doesn't depend. That's the policy regarding severance if this buyout goes through. Employees have to be terminated without cause, or offered a position more than 50 miles from their current location, to get severance.

AT&T doesn't really have a choice in firing people, either. Their employees are union. T-Mo isn't. Much easier to get rid of non-union people. They've also made it pretty clear they only want T-Mobile to eliminate a competitor, not to get better employees or service.
