I doubt that has anything to do with it....

Frankly, I use a Blackberry and I think the media coverage of this event is inflated.....so once every couple of years there's an outage, that's normal....big whoop.....the only thing that didn't work was the push notification for new emails, so if getting email was important, you could access email through the browser...it's an annoyance and a hassle, but not a huge one....not something big enough to make the phone unusable...

On the other hand, yesterday Apple, as happens every year, had a complete meltdown of its update servers, depending on what point the update process stopped working, you might have ended up with a (albeit temporarily) bricked phone, that's a much bigger problem than ju...

RIMM has outdated, dead technology - circa mid 1990's. They're being relegated to the dustbin as we speak... Not much need for middleware like BES these days.

Whereas I agree they are a bit behind in the Technology field, mid 1990s? Seriously? That is just silly.

As for BES, it is a great software platform. Which is why it doesn't need changed. Having a dedicated Server for corporate connectivity that can be administrated from anywhere is pretty helpful. Also, the security measures available are pretty top notch.

Sure RIM hasn't launched (Other than the Torch2) any drop dead amazing phones in recent memory. Yet they still make a good product.

Yeap - middleware like BES is 1990's technology. RIMM will soon get gobbled-up and eventually put to pasture. Good product in their day, but got run over by modern technology.
