This deal also indirectly affects T-Mobile, by allowing them to shift roaming in the Carolinas and northeast TN to SunCom and quit roaming on Cingular for the most part, and actually makes SunCom a huge takeover target for T-Mobile, since SunCom serves a large number of markets where T-Mobile has no presence.

(There is some overlap between SunCom and T-Mobile in Virginia, parts of Georgia, northeast Tennessee, and areas of South Carolina near the Georgia border. SunCom isn't in Knoxville TN, but T-Mobile has licenses there that they can build out to provide native coverage and end their reliance on Cingular there.)
