Ridiculously expensive. Why spend all that money for a phone, when it will simply drop nearly half the price in a couple of months. You iPhonatics amaze me. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice phone but, I would feel really cheated. I guess that's one of the reasons I never bothered with iPhone.

That's just me, though. ๐Ÿคจ

$199.99 is expensive? Someone tell that to HTC about the EVO 3D being $199.99..just like the Samsung Galaxy S ll, Epic 4G Touch..the iPhone is actually discounted more than any of these devices.

In fact, that is the most expensive phone of the last 10 years....

And what is ridiculous, what simply cannot be justified, is Apple charging $100 for 16GB of memory....

I just bought a 1TB external hard drive for $99, but Apple wants $100 for 16GB....that's price gouging.

64GB..think you are missing the point. Also, unlocked devices sell for just as much. If you don't like the price, oh well, there will be other people that will buy the phone at that price because it's unlocked.
Big difference between a 16GB of Flash memory compared to 1TB of HDD space..it's more expensive..check out the prices for 512MB flash hard drives and you will change your stance. The cost is normally double the cost of space.

So you can't justify it by saying 'it's unlocked'...indeed, unlocked phones are generally the same price as carried branded equipment...maybe a differece of $50-$100.....

Even for a company that normally has a 50% markup this is ridiculous.

And by the way, just this week I bought a 32GB mini-SD card for $60.....and SD cards are more expensive than flash memory.

I'm currently using 15.41gigs out of 29gb's. And I have something like 1700+ song. So 8gigs isn't impressive to me.

If you research just a little bit you will see that external SD memory is not as fast as the internal memory and why a lot of phones refrain from you installing apps on it. Also your frame rate for video recording will be slower and you will not be able to record 1080P HD on the current Micro SD. Standard SD has different speed memory, the faster the memory, the more expensive it is, and the higher end cameras now the speed memory it has in order to enable all features.

By the way the Samsung inFuse is $99.99 with contract, $438 unlocked. Just a $100 more huh?

Just because you buy something with no contract doesn't make it unlocked. Carried branded equipment is still locked when sold at the no commitment price.

I didn't say $50-$100 more than the contract price, but $50-$100 more than the NO COMMITMENT price on carrier branded equipment. I was talking about the no commitment price! The no commitment price and the price for an unlocked device are not the same thing.

Generally the unlocked version of carrier branded phone (i.e. a phone which has no carried branding at all and which has been tested for compatibility for no network) is generally around $50-$100 more than the NO COMMITMENT PRICE for the same device with a carrier branding.

Apple's prices for unlocked iPhones however are ...

You are making no sense at all. No Commitment pricing pricing is the same as no contract with AT&T. Prepaid service phones don't count. A 16GB iPhone for no commitment pricing is the same as the unlocked version and it is not a $100 dollar difference. The No Commitment price for the inFuse is the same as the Unlocked version. AT&T phones are international, even if you buy it from AT&T it can still be unlocked and used over seas. Once again the internet is your friend, do a little research, GSM companies equipment is completely different from CDMA companies.

I was speaking of the non contract prices. But, 199.00 only covers the 16gig. If you want more, you pay an extra 100.00 to double the amount of gigs. This is why Apple never put microSD slots. People would just simply buy the cheaper phone and put in micro sd. So, my statement stands, expensive. Just another way to suck a buck out of you.

It really is amazing that this is 2011 and Apple is still pricing phones based on how much memory they have......

yep, I've already invested money into the iPhone product line with Apps, why would I start over with another device other than an iPhone. I'm not going to jump on the iPhone 4S, I'll wait until the next announcement. I'm perfectly fine with the iPhone 4.

"Why spend all that money for a phone, when it will simply drop nearly half the price in a couple of months" You must be kidding, right? Or you know nothing about the iphone. If you look at eBay or Craigslist, the iPhone 4 is still priced @ $400 or more (probably a little bit less now since the news of the iPhone 4S) You might say that those are idiots but they won't price their iphone that high if there's no buyers. The iphone is still the one that has the most resale value!

No LTE or WiMax in the iPhone 4S right???
Fixing the internal antenna issue and a faster processor OK but not keeping up with the network is another.

Improved camera, Siri (which is 4S exclusive), improved processor, battery life was improved, antenna was reconfigured, twice the ram (1GB). 64GB model finally. AT&T version get's HSPA+ , world phone. Guess it wasn't an upgrade at all really. ๐Ÿ™„

Apple BOUGHT Siri.....that isn't even their own product, it's a third party product that they purchased and added to the iPhone....

I'm sure the next generation Windows Phones will all have Skype installed....not really a big advance when you consider that Microsoft now owns Skype.
