I don't understand...

And maybe its cause I'm not really a big fan of Apple, but its
the iPhone 4s, not the iPhone 5. Hasn't the "s" always been
just an upgraded version of the previous phone? It's got a
better processor, better graphics, siri, better antenna, better
battery life, and a better camera. Sounds like an upgraded
version of the 4 to me...
Yes, it could have been a bit thinner, but its not that thick to
begin with. And who doesn't get use to the size of there phone
after just a short time? 4G, okay legitimate complaint. But the
battery kill is a definitely downside. I live in a 4G area, and
never use it. I'll end up buying the 4s personally simply
because I was planning to upgrade soon anyway, as my EVO is
starting to crap out. (I've h...

The problem here, is that technology and interests in the wireless industry, are progressing faster and faster within one year time frames.

It is understandable that the "s" in Apple's iphone editions has historically defined the upgrade for the previous versions. The question is, why didn't Apple just skip the upgrade? They could've released a newer version and included all of these upgrades within a new iP5 that could've had a larger screen and the faster 4G radios. It would certainly have put them at the helm of above par for smartphones instead of a year behind. Now, in 2-4 months, they will be even further behind. There is nothing written that Apple has to stay with just upgrading the previous.

It's not a branch new phone, its exactly what you said. For someone like you, coming from an older device its a worthy upgrade. For someone who already owns an Iphone 4, its not worth it at all when they can just upgrade the software.
