Yeah. Sprint no longer wants to attract new customer, grow thier subscriber base, or be competitive...

They are eliminating a program that virtually NO ONE actually uses because everyone wants the cheapest price avaiable to them. Also, I'm fairly certain that none of the other national carriers even offer one year agreements anymore either.

You either want a contract or you don't. If you don't, go to Boost or Virgin. If you do, it's 2 years. Must be hard for your simple mind to grasp.

People always dog Sprint no matter what they try to do, Sprint is the red headed step child of the cellular industry and nothing they do will satisfy anyone. What people don't realize is Sprint is aligning itself to work the same process that the other carriers do but no one complains about them and their processed. If you don't want a contract get prepaid becuase you would probably be a whiner calling constantly about his bill demanding credits not deserved. I have been a Sprint customer for 10yrs been thru all the messes but still stuck with them because they are cheaper and better than the other carriers (in my area anyway)

Nobody has said anything about getting an upgrade they're not entitled to. Just getting rid of the 1 year contract. Yes I did one for mobile broadband sometime ago. AT&T allows one year contract, and allows you to buy a phone off contract right out of the door, something sprint doesn't allow. I don't dog Sprint as much as annoy the fanboi's.

you can buy a Sprint phone no contract out the door if you don't want to do a contract. I know no one said anything about upgrade I was just on a rant and had a thought in my head and just went with it, got a little carried away lol

You cannot get initial Sprint service without a contract, even if you pay full price for the device. If you already have service, and want a phone and don't want it subsidized, thats different.

Sprint does allow you to buy phones with no contract. You just don't get a discount on the phone and have to pay full MSRP if you decide not to sign up for a contract extension.

Exactly. The discount for a 1 year contract was not appealing to people. The 2 year discount is much better and the vast majority opt for that. Others would prefer the freedom of month to month considering the price difference isn't that great.
