I could think of a few reasons.
1. the Infuse 4G, and I know what you are thinking. Why the Infuse 4G when the GS2 just came out. Well, one the selling point now is to make use of the beautiful 4.5 inch screen.
2. variety. Why would 3 major carriers carry the exact same device? There are network differences and coverage issues and what not, but it's too much the same. Most people don't take the time out to learn these things and just buy the phone depending on what's cheapest. AT&T has the 4.3 inch screen, T-Mobile most likely has a Tegra 2 processor, and the Epic 4G touch has a 4.5 inch and the exynos processor.
