Ironic...

Had a conversation earlier this year with my future brother-in-law, who is a supervisor in one of the Verizon tech call centers. I asked him about data throttling and he said, "It doesn't happen, and never will." I asked him about tiered data on Verizon, and he said, "Rumors have been flying around for years. It's not gonna happen."

Hmm.

That's not 'ironic' it is simply 'wrong'....

Some will say it's only a coincidence that Verizon is facing a severe data crunch shortly after introducing the iPhone...I say 'nonsense'

Now Verizon customers know what at&t has been putting up with for the last 4 years....

If this was about AT&T there would be at least 107 posts here on how greedy AT&T and Apple are, and how dare they do something like this.

If this was about Sprint, people would be supporting Dan Hesse and praying to him and complaining Sprint is doing this because of the AT&T TMO merger and the government needs to intervene to give Sprint more spectrum and that it should be paid for by AT&T and VZW.

Of course, I'd be saying the same if it went with any carrier, though if it were Sprint I'd be snidely laughing as I said it.

It DOES never cease to amaze me how, when at&t does something, everyone gets angry and whines about it, but when Verizon does the exact same thing....

Zilch....

It is especially bad at tech sites like ZDnet where all the bloggers talk about how evil at&t is and how wonderful Verizon is....even though the prices and polices of the two networks are all but identical....

For some reason, Verizon has fanboys, but at&t doesn't.....

I actually think AT&T has better prices, especially looking at Verizon's new data plans. They are real close though.

Verizon has a better price on data card plans though....with the, you got 5GB for $50, but for at&t it costs $60 for 5GB....

But with minor differences here and there, the pricing and policies are very nearly identical.

Actually, AT&T's newer 4g devices only cost $50 for 5gb of data, same as Verizon. The only people still paying $60 are the ones using outdated equipment.

And all they need to do is call and ask AT&T to adjust the price down to what is now. Truly the company should do it on their own, but that ain't happening.

"Truly the company should do it on their own, but that ain't happening."

Actually, people can be extremely picky and stubborn about this sort of thing, you would think 'well, it is the same plan, just $10 cheaper, why wouldn't they want to change?" but some people don't, and if the change happens on its own, they get angry.

It's like people on old rate plans, some of the old rate plans are really bad compared to what is available now, but people have their own reasons for not wanting to change and it is hard to convince them to do so.

I used to talk to customers all the time, try to convince them to change to a rate plan which was better in pretty much every way than what they had...and for whatever reason they would refuse.
