Two things:

Because of GSM's designed technology, it has more dropped calls over CDMA. It has very little to do with AT&T and Tmobile operating seperately. A unification of the two, will not change the propagation of how GSM operates or the coverage issues. AT&T would like you to believe it, but in reality, you will lose if you fall prey to this manipulation. If you are in a zone that coverage is better with Tmobile, then that is certainly the fault of AT&T. They most likely have the chance to cover you with spectrum they already have but chose not to.

So this leads to your second opinion.

If "You get what you pay for" and are tired of dropped calls and want better coverage, why are you not with a CDMA carrier such as Verizon? If you can not answer this question logically, then quit bringing the Mercedes in as an example. It is hypocritical. Your choice of vehicle opposes your choice of carrier.
