FasTap Video Diary
Disappointing...
Does anyone have this phone or the LG 6190 that can either confirm or dispute this?
Anyway, I've tried the LG 6190 several times and it's easy. Not quite as intuitive as a qwerty layout that's been ingrained in my head for over 20 years, but these guys are seriously giving FasTap a bum review. Their experiments are far from scientific, and overall this review just annoyed me to no end.
My girlfriend who has had her 6190 for a year and a half...

actually, the test was about as scientific as you can get, which is why they found someone who has used neither the fasttap, nor t9 - to avoid bias (something you admitedly cannot let go)
if you have a problem with the way the review went, try to maintain some amount of tact, and refrain from bashing the review with your biased opinion and immature commentary.
1) It was his own phone that he was doing the T9 input on. Both phones should have been unfamiliar to the user.
2) You trained him on T9, something not often available since most people don't read their manuals.
3) Your input string was pretty easy to do. More input strings would make for a more general test.
My problems with T9:
1) Originally, you couldn't add words to your dictionary (you can now on newer phones).
2) You need to 'learn' how to type the words in the dictionary, whereas with FasTap the learning curve is simply figuring out where the buttons are.
I was going to try and stick to an unbiased opinion with some facts and maturity, however the video managed to hit all kinds of "omg I can't belie...

I still haven't figure out how to use t9 on verizons samsung a930 its driving crazy I'm glad I only use that phone at work, its not as intuitive as nokia or motorola and hopefully the sony ericsson w810i isn't as hard(by the way any news on the realise of that thing on any american carrier?).
but i don't believe that i corrupted the design of this experiment by explaining t9 to tim. i also explained things like how punctuation work on fastap. additionally i gave time practice time with each method and allowed him about twice as much practice time with fastap than with t9 because of the new letter layout.
if you were *really* worried about my expiremental design, then i would admit that it is invalid because their is only 1 subject in each group. that is not valid statistically, but it is still better than just the opinion of 1 guy who uses t9 every day.
i would agree there are people who will find learning fastap easy. learning how to use the fastap keyboard is (other than punctuatio...
