Two more phones we'll never see. I like Motorola phones, for the most part, but I'm getting tired of waiting for handests that never pass testing, or disappear completely.

To be released in Q4 2004 my ass... It'll be middle of next year, I bet.

It's great that Motorola is coming up with all these great new phones. But it is frustrating that they are announcing all these before we have seen the ones announced 6 months ago, like the V710. It seems they are just teasing us with these announcements. I know it may seem like great PR for Motorola, showing us they are coming up with great new products--but I wish they'd just wait till they are ready to release them, instead of stating some vague goal, like Q4, which we have all learned to disregard. We all know what happened with the Moto camera phones we were supposed to see before last Christmas.

I maintain that Motorola's core compentency is Press Announcements as opposed to hardware on the table.

Sure, they make a few demo units and show them at times but it must be only to collect feedback from carriers and end users.

They can announce all they want, but if they announce, they must deliver!

Well... the V710 doesn't really compare to these new phones. The V710 is very high-end, while these are decidedly entry-level. It's normal for a company to announce phones on a staggered schedule at various price points.

But, ultimately you are right. The phone to compare it to, though, is the E310. That is the entry-level CDMA clamshell that Motorola announced well over a year ago, that we still haven't seen yet... 🙄

I know, I was referring to the US.

Really? Huh, well I stand corrected then. Thanks for the info!

Still, it sure took them long enough. And the V810 still isn't out in the U.S. - that was announced at the same time as the E310.

😁 What kind of cheese would you guys like to go with all of your whine? 😲 Sounds like a bunch of kindergarten kids. I suggest that you check out Motorola's web site for Korea (CDMA country) and see what IS working and you will see these and others coming to the US also. BTW how about the other manuf sending some of the cool phones they sell in Europe but not here! Are we (the US) not good enough? There now pass ME the cheese!

This seems to lend credibility to the rumor that the Europeans are way ahead of us.
Reality is that the entire European market with a small percentage using UMTS uses GSM. This gives manufacturers the ability to use economy of scale. Only a relatively few US carrie...

Although what you say is true more or less, the overwhelming reason most of Europe is GSM is because it is cheaper. The reason they are so far ahead of us, and are still able to use GSM is because they have more than enough GSM towers. They got a 10 year jump on the US with cell phones. They had the bag phones from the early 80's in the early 70's. The old bauntpunt phones. With 10 extra years to put up GSM towers, of course they will still have service in most areas. That is the main problem with the US GSM carriers, not enough towers. CDMA can cover more range with less towers, thus they are more expensive, but apparently people in the US care more about service. I am not sure of the percentage of Americans using Verizon, but I ima...
