Att can create those jobs without T-Mobile. They can expand their LTE network to 97% of Americans with the spectrum they have!! And it will take only 3.8 billion and not 39 billion! Good move DOJ!!! MaBell please go away now!
...
Amen to that mdana07! It's crazy to see MaBell trying to rebuild what was broken up back in the 80's. 30 years removed isn't long enough of a time span for people to forget their Monopoly ways of the past.

AT&T is not the parent company that was broken up. The current AT&T is one of the "baby Bells" that has taken over the former parent's name.
...
It may as well be, most of the smaller companies that MaBell was split into were gobbled up by AT&T.

are you the one that creating those new jobs?
ATT only bringing back jobs from oversee or creating new jobs ONLY if merger go through.
no merger, they not going to creating new jobs!
...
If the merger goes through, what will happen to all the T-mobile employees? Out of a job.
So yes At&t will create new jobs if it goes through, but in the process At&t will get rid of even more T-mobile employee's.

The wording is super important on this one. ATT commits to BRING 5000 jobs back from overseas... as many of those as legally possible will be brought back with workers intact (work visas) because lets face it, Americans cost too much, thats why they took them in the first place, and outside of the salary requirement, $27,000 in background employee expenses x's 5,000? It would cost less to buy a politician, and even less still to employ foreign workers on American soil. To ramp up expenses to that tune just to grab spectrum and dismantle a competitor seems real excessive. The 2nd key phrase is they wont slash any jobs AFTER the merger is complete... TMO just slashes 2,500 and counting.. trim the fat pre merger, bring in foreign workers to...

There's no way you can pay a worker brought over to america from overseas the same you paid them there. The american cost of living is far too high and they wouldn't be able to survive on their foreign wages
...
at&t has probably already thought of that. I'm sure a company worth as much as them can very easily afford housing / room and board for these foreign workers. Most likely, they already have this ready and available, if that is their true intention, that is.
...
True, but they'd still be cheaper than American workers.
...
very true, but the same way that farms provide housing and transportation to workers (just to name one industry) in order to offset the wages they have to pay, companies do the same with foreign workers all the time. they cant get away with the $2/day they paid overseas, but they will work to keep it at $8/hr with deductions for living and transportation, no medical benefits. Money recouped, problem solved.

AT&T already owns enough spectrum to accomplish a full roll-out of LTE. If they decided to stop sitting on that spectrum and actually do something with it, they would potentially create jobs for cell technicians.
No job would be "created" in a T-Mobile acquisition, they would only replace some existing jobs, and overall get rid of even more jobs. It would be a net loss for the job market.
