Department of Justice Sues to Block AT&T/T-Mobile Deal
Not to be a party popper but...
If TMO goes bellyup those same emps have to go and try to get the jobs that att and vzw and sprint are already laying off/outsourcing.
This buyout is just the start. Next few years will be interesting, keep an eye on Sprint and also the little prepaid guy known as Cricket. Big Red will be making a move.

Which is MOST (I'm sure 95% +) of T-Mo's markets.

No, DT could spin off T-Mobile USA, or sell it to some group of investors. Or perhaps Sprint. T-Mobile won't just evaporate. The assets are worth way too much.
I can only hope Rich. You know what honestly. Lnog as Sprint has nothing to do with it, I'm completely fine with whatever happens to T-Mo. Just stay away from Sprint.
CDMA and GSM are different, But LTE is the same. Since most carriers have announced supporting the LTE platform, Sprint and Tmobile are more compatible than one might think. They will both use the same technology. Sprint is in the process of consolidating their network by eliminating IDEN and converting this for CDMA. CDMA and GSM can and will be used concurrently until LTE is full phase. At that time, most will be transitioned to LTE.

All of the mergers that I have been through, I have seen thousands of people lose their jobs. Even ones that were initially kept, were purposely weeded out, because the company wants their own people. This happens regardless of what rhetoric the company says.
