I guess all those letters we wrote to the Justice Department, FCC and our congressmen worked..That would have been really bad for consumers..Finally government listened!

I wonder what took them so long to figure out this violates U.S. antitrust laws, I mean they are the DOJ,they should have kniwn this months ago.

They have to let the companies try to prove their case. The process usually takes a year..

Yeah but the DOJ should have known this violates antitrust laws from the beginning.

They probably did, but they can't just say no without an investigation. That would be like a judge in a trial saying "forget the trial, you are guilty". The DOJ doesn't have the power to just stop a merger. They must gather the facts, and then file suit in federal court to stop it. ATT could still win in court.

Actually the DOJ can claim the merger is in violation of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act and it would be up to AT&T and TMO to sue to overturn their decision.
