Tiered Data Will Be Next

Aug 31, 2011, 5:03 PM
I bet unlimited data will be gone about 3 or 4 months after iPhone releases.

Why, could an iphone use more data then I can having my android attached to my TV streaming netflix allday.

No probably not. It's just a way for them to make more money.

iPhones DO use more data than other smartphones....

A good formula is that 200MB on a Blackberry equals about 2 GB on an iPhone....

Nobody would ever pretend that a blackberry uses that much data. But there's no way an iphone can use more data than any other high end android phone.

It has to do with the design of the phone, I'm not talking about the amount of usage.

Even given the exact amount of usage, the iPhone uses more date than any other smartphone.

RIM emphasizes data compression so Blackberries do a lot with very with little...

But Google, and Apple, don't make any effort at all at data compression, so their phones use more data than other phones even when visiting the same sites, running the same apps etc.
