Tracfone is actually a separate company with its own network, when they roam they generally roam on Verizon's network.....

at&t's prepaid kine is the Go Phone....and they clearly branded as at&t

from tracfone's wifi page...they use all 4, but do not have their own network.

Currently, TracFone Wireless uses the networks of major cell phone network providers to carry their signal.

For GSM models:

AT&T
T-Mobile

For CDMA models:

Verizon
Sprint

Every network doesn't roam on everyone else's network. They may share cell towers but, not share networks. There is a difference. Att and vzn for example, as far as anything I've read, do not roam on other networks. Other networks roam on them.

Hey TBone...you're partially right. Tracfone is a "MNVO" operator, meaning they piggy-back off and share the bandwidth on other major carriers. Like Virgin Mobile uses Sprint's Network.

Tracfone is very large, so depending on what part of the US your in, you could be on Verizon's or Sprints CDMA network, or AT&T's or T-Mobile's GSM network.

You're right in the sense that Tracfone is not part of AT&T, but they don't have their very own network like the 4 major carriers do. Again, depending on the part of the country you're in is what major carrier you'll be sharing the network with. So Tracfone may be piggy-backing off AT&T's network somewhere in the US.

Click on "Carrier's" then "Tracfone"...Phone Scoop provided a description ...

Sorry, I stand corrected! 🤭 It's "MVNO" not MNVO...my apologies! It stands for Mobile Virtual Network Operator".

MVNO's are wireless companies that have their own brand, marketing, retail outlets, and phone offerings, but use another operators infrastructure (towers and network) instead of building or operating their own.

TracFone is a large MVNO (mobile virtual network Operator) providing service in all 50 states, plus Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. TracFone has MVNO relationships with multiple major carriers, using a mix of TDMA, CDMA and GSM technology, depending on region. TracFone sells phones and service via its web site, as well as Radio Shack, Target, Wal-Mart, and other retailers.

In 2009, at&t spent more than $6 billion on its network....

$100 million is pocket change compared to what these companies spend

Maybe Dannie Boy Hesse should cry to the government they can't afford to ante up $100 million and have AT&T and VZW pay their way!

Nah, I was really just wondering if differnet was like skynet.

'Cause skynet is not cool.

Is from the Terminator movies. It's an advanced military computer defense program that gains sentience and wipes out the human race, pretty much.
