I've had the chocolate for a week now and it seems to be good reception. I have not noticed it to be a problem that's for sure. I would compare it to my RAZR V3c. The best reception phone I've ever had with Verizon was the Motorola V710. The only phone on Verizon that had such poor reception that I actually noticed it was my Treo 700w.

yea i just stopped by my local VZW store and tested out the demo Chocolate. I love the touch sensitive keys and slider form. I called myself with the Chocolate and I could have sworn I was using my home phone. This is probably helped by the fact that my current phone is a dying Audiovox 8910. but w/e its a great little phone.

Keep in mind Verizon stores usallly have repeaters in place to augment service and the appearance of top notch performance.

I used my phone there and it still sounded crappy. Maybe a bit better. Chocolates still like a zillion times better than my 8910

While a manager at Circuit City, I remember messing with Verizon's handset demos...all of them made crystal clear calls and held a signal very well because of the repeaters.

While I was there, the 8910 had only 2 bars.

So ALL 8910's are horrible pieces of muck...great detective work there.

yes but the 990 is $350 with a 2 year contract. I can't even use a lot of high end features. I, personally love the way the Chocolate looks. I was at a Verizon store today and fooled around with a lot of phones, including the Chocolate, A990, A970, RAZR V3m, and LG 8300. The A990 i thought was too big. I liked the A970's twisting display, especially now since its price has gone from $250 to $100 overnight due to the release of the 990. But I think my next phone will be the Chocolate!!
