POS Where it Counts Most

"Despite Verizon's rather thorough coverage of San Francisco, our Chocolate rarely showed a full four bars of 1x or EV-DO. While this probably is not an accurate reflection of Verizon coverage, it was an accurate reflection of the Chocolate's reception. This phone had a difficult time holding on to a signal. When signal strength was good, calls were still choppy. When it was bad, the phone dropped calls quite consistently. Although the phone initially showed a signal in our bank vault test, it could not make a call and when attempting to do anything else the indicator bars quickly disappeared."

Just like I suspected. Who gives a [expletive] about a QVGA screen and Flash UI when you can't make a phone call?

By contrast, when Phonescoop...

Ditto!

Lots of glitz but LGs are noted for poor signal strength.

This plagued early LG releases for Cingular...along with buggy software.

LG's Verizon offerings have always been solid phones for signal. And their GSM line has always lagged behind. I'm not sure what's up with this one.

From my experience and customer experiences as well I always heard that the Motorola V710/E815 always beat out the 8100 on signal strength. I believe the phonescoop vault test reflects that as well.

I agree with the poor quality of LG. I'm not sure on the quality of the V3 or V3c, but I've a L6, and it get's signal in solid concete, and in the middle of no where, the places where the coverage ends.

LG's CDMA line at both Verizon and Sprint has lagged behind other manufactures for RF performance. Motorola, Samsung, Sanyo, Nokia, whoever you want to single out, all perform better than LG phones.

I've never experienced anything less but stellar service from Verizon intended LG handsets.

Oh really...

The Chocolate has poor signal strength, and from initial tester reports at HowardForums, so does the 8600 'Chocolate flip'. No LG phone seems to hold up to the RF displayed by Samsung phones (A990 in particular), let alone Motorola.

Uh, I was referring to LG handsets BEFORE the Chocolate arrived on shelves everywhere.

OK, that's funny! HowardForums is just that . . . A forum for people to go talk and give their opinions. Just because Bob Smith says the Chocolate sucks, doesn't mean it does. For all we know, Bob Smith is either making things up or a total RAZR Fan Boy. Or, he's legit and giving his opinion.

The RAZR was in testing for Verizon for a VERY long time. Reception stunk. Issues with software. Verizon actually turned it down at one point. When a phone is in testing, it's doing just that . . . TESTING! To make sure it works. Not everything will be perfect right out of the gate. Phones test, find the flaws, then retest, find m...

EXACTLY . . .what he said. (ps. LG on Verizon rocksss . . .not to sure about GSM networks?) Buy the Chocolate if you want a SWEET looking phone that doubles as an MP3 player...the 8300 if you must have phone usability before style. I have both 🤤

If I wasn't needing to make calls I'd spend the same ammount of money on an iPod instead of a phone that looks like one and requires a service contract.
