Do you think they would allow anyone else to make accessories for this jack without a license? $$$$

This is one of the reasons I don't respect Apple anymore. They blatently do things to control you after you purchase their products.

It's more like you're renting it...

Once you invest in some accessories that ONLY work with Apple products, you are much more likely to keep buying them.

They know this, and exploit it fully.

It reminds of what happened a few years ago. A few manufacturers created portable DVD players with iPod docks built in so you can play videos on the screen without extra cables.

When the iPhone and iPod touch came out, Apple made changes to the docking port. This was also done to the original iPod when it became the "Classic". As a result, anyone who'd already bought such a DVD player found it wouldn't work with newer iPods. I haven't seen one made since. Also, people who already owned aftermarket cables found they had to buy new ones from Apple. It was nearly a year before any aftermarket cables became available again.

In theory, I don't really have a problem with this. It's just business. However, it's Apple apologists who ...

Excellent point. Could not have said it better myself. I own one of those DVD players for my older Ipod classic. Only one problem - that Ipod classic gave up the ghost 6 months ago. 🙄 😡

I am hoping that the Iphone 5 for Verizon will be out soon since my original Moto Droid is misbehaving a lot. I just have not been able to put it in time out since I need a working cell phone for my job 😁
