Now is not the time to crying over spilled milk. We got Ice Cream Sandwich, iOS 5 and WP7 Mango on the horizon with new handsets to boot!

webOS' fate was doomed from the beginning. Palm was just too little too late. It was an outstanding OS but just poorly executed. It wasn't just the hardware either. The market was just too crowded and Android really took off. Had only Palm released the Pre before the G1 and put it on a bigger carrier such as Verizon. Cause Sprint was not the right way to go. They had the worst marketing. Lots of things went wrong and Palm made bad decisions. Just too bad.

As an Android user, I can only hope that Google will take some cues from webOS and implement into further Android releases.

There is no such thing as 'too late', the problem actually is that Palm alienated their users by radically changing their operating system, many Palm users took one look at WebOs and said 'what the hell is this, it's not Palm OS' and then moved on to another platform.

Their original OS had been neglected so long by a company that just lost their focus. They burned a lot of money and precious time hanging onto PDA's, not to mention the Foleo disaster cancelled while in production.
In the end they brought WebOS to market and couldn't put any money behind it marketing it. Ch...

Choosing Sprint was clearly a bad idea, at the time I worked for at&t, and I always thought the Palm Pre would have been a lot more successful if Palm had released it on at&t first...because at&t is bigger, had lots of Palm users even in 2009, and GSM is the world standard so making the at&t version first would have made it possible to introduce the Pre worldwide all at once...

I still don't understand why traditional non-smartphone PDA's like Palm Pilots have disappeared. It is clear that a lot of people want the contacts and calendar function of a PDA, but don't want to pay a monthly data charge...something like a Palm Pilot would be perfect for them.

But anyway, what I really objected to in the post was the statement that the Pre w...
