I am so glad this phone has finally launched, and cannot wait for it to be available to the store channel. It will also be nice not to have to the GSM people say "VZW sucks because thier phones do not work internationally." Now VZW has a phone that more places than GSM since a VZW customer can go to countries like Korea that have a CDMA network.

Don't Korea's existing CDMA networks operate on a different frequency?

Yes and no. 😉

The PCS networks are incompatible, but the cellular networks (800/850 MHz) are compatible. The spectrum doesn't line up 100% (more like 90%), but it's done in such a way that it's compatible.

A lot of "extra" features don't work, from Mobile Web to caller-ID, but basic voice calls work fine.

Verizon Wireless actually has roaming agreements in place with SK Telecom, and vice-versa. Here's some more info:

And from Verizon:

...which explains the requirements for roaming in Korea, including going to a store to have the Korea PRL loaded into your phone.
