I have Verizon and the new LG Revolution and the phone came pre loaded with Netflix on it and we have a Netflix account so I can watch full movies if I want and the phone even has the HDMI connection to plug into TV if I wanted but we have Bluray hooked to internet for that. Now Verizon is offering the Revolution with free 3 months Netflix so if you ask me they want us to be data hogs so they can charge more for usage and if we use too much they will slow down the speed. What a joke!

*facepalm*

You realize that Verizon has been throttling data for months now on the top 2% of data hogs, right?

You also realize that this is the news article for ATT following suit for the top 5%, right?

Are you paying attention or are you just ranting to make yourself feel like you know whats going on?

the throttling is to stop the people that are using their smartphones in a way that isn't compliant in the ways that a smartphone isn't to be used. I don't know about ATT but Verizon knows that people have rooted/jailbroken their devices and are using them in ways of violating their TOU's. The people who are in the top 2% are the people who have set up their phones to run everything through the phone using 50, 60 and more GB's a month. This isn't a penalty for people that are using netflix as advertised nor is it a penalty for people who are always using the data on the phone.

Well then it sounds like I will not have any problems from Verizon as this month I have used 6.3 GB with 2 days left for billing cycle. Any Idea how much you have to use before considered to be a hog and get your data slowed down?

to be honest, i don't have a clue. I have an employee that has averaged 12 GB a month since he got his thunderbolt and hasn't been throttled at all. So over 12 GB? 😛

this is why i don't understand why people get so upset about changes like this. These changes don't affect a large amount of unlimited data smartphone users and it most likely wont affect them ever, so why get so up in arms about it?
