This may sound like I'm defending AT&T's position.....

It's not so much at&t position that I'm defending, but moreso businesses in general. If a company invests billions of dollars on infrastructure, I think they get some rights in protecting their investment.

I think it's a fair statement to say that most of the U.S. smartphone users don't use their phones the way that members of phonescoop use their phones.

I'd also say it's fair that most members here because we are tech enthusists, push our phones to the limits.

It's because of people like us that data speeds have been increasing over the years.

But on that same note, it's because of people like us that "unlimited" plans are going the way of the dodo.

I've heard people on here brag about using 45 to 60 gig a month, and jay ...

I use my phone strictly as a consumer. No app development, nothing like that. I streamed 6 seasons of a show on netflix along with a fair share of Pandora usage (literally any time I drove because the radio stations here suck.) and I cleared *barely* over 3gb that month on an iPhone which are supposedly data hogs.

Josh is right though, we as consumers are responsible for the abuse of the data. Even an all-you-can-eat buffet will shut down when they run out of food.

I can agree with you on this point. I work for Verizon Indirect and I was furious when I heard that Verizon was going away from unlimited data, I wasn't worried about my usage being on an existing unlimited plan but what hurt is the selling tool. I use my phone all day, everyday. Playing online poker at work, reading forums, streaming pandora to our bluetooth speaker at work, then in my car, then at home. I use it all day. My usage has never been over 3Gigs and last month i did 1.6. For those of you who use 60+....What are you doing?? I'm assuming you're tethering and running massive amounts of data through your phone. Keep in mind although I do this myself on occassion it's illegal, and technically violates your terms and conditions that yo...

Josh,

I think we can all recognize some valid points in your post. However, ATT spending billions to REPAIR their network, is far more accurate. They are scavengers of rhetoric and insufficient handling of subscriber's interests. They have had the acquired spectrum holdings and financial means to have brought their outdated network up to par years ago. They chose not to.

Three years ago they admitted a problem with their network. They addressed the issue and promised the consumers and media a remedy.

Unfortunately, t...

Well said John!

I myself being a shamless Sprint Fan Boi. Can actually step out of my comfort zone a pat a VZW enthusiast on the back. After all my enemy's enemy is my friend.

Go Dan Hesse, Slay that big blue AT&T Dragon!

Buy the NEW EVO 3D, Check out the Motorola Photon! the classic EVO 4G is now $99.99 (after $50 MIR)

Enjoy UNLIMITED Data with no caps or throttling and no bill shock at the mail box ( mom who has been paying your cell bill won't keel over dead from a heart attack with data overage so she can keep paying your bill for you)

Was that Fan Boi-ish enough for this forum? Was I over the top? I was aiming pretty high but nor sure if I hit it. afterall the fan Boi bar has been set pretty high in this forum....

Wow. But seriously, I'm kinda jealous of non sprint networks, lte and even hspa+ are pretty fast. Wimax looks like a fairly poor choice for them, and their rollout of it has been embarrassingly slow. Btw I've had the original evo since launch day. I won't switch, they gave me too good of a deal, but that can change if the service decreases.

I feel I am a Sprint subscriber of the highest caliber. I wasn't always. Had them years ago and hated them. I feel they have made tremendous progress in rebuilding a tarnished image. I am not a subscriber of VZW because I feel I do not require the vast coverage they seemingly offer. There is a certain amount of marketing and mindset combination on the parts of carriers and susbscribers that triggers perpetual business transactions. Coverage has been the heaviest selling point for carriers for years. I have studied the maps and found Sprint is in all the major cities I travel. Therefore, VZW is not needed. This saves me money every single month.

However, As consumer of the industry that has experienced both Verizon and ATT, I do need to ...
