As a T-Mobile customer, I hope you are successful. A merger would be catastrophic for both of us. No competition= sky high prices.

That statement doesn't even make sense. What do you mean no competition? Verizon doesn't offer competition? Sprint doesn't offer competition? Prepaid doesn't offer competition especially when prepaid service is on the raise? This merger will only serve to help att and tmobile customers with better service and coverage and force verizon and sprint to offer better deals. Its a win win situation.

some people dont mind paying a little extra to have BETTER COVERAGE (able to use att towers + tmobile towers!)
or you can go with sprint 35$ get you unlimited talk, texts, and internet!
with this att/tmobile merger, sprint will have to lower the prices even more to compete since att/tmobile have better coverage after merger.
it' like buying a car, if you can afford it, get a Mercedes. if you too cheap, just get a hyundai!

"What do you mean no competition? Verizon doesn't offer competition?"

No it really doesn't, anymore than BP or Shell competing with Exxon Mobile. Its called a cartel or oligopoly.

"Sprint doesn't offer competition?"

Nope, not really. And even less so after this Tmo buyout. It is expected that Verizon will buy Sprint (ignore what Verizon is saying now about it -- just self-serving nonsense to confuse the regulators).

"Prepaid doesn't offer competition especially when prepaid service is on the raise?"

Not really either, because prepaid is NOT a separate carrier and network. Its all based on the same national networks. This means that Verizon or AT&T (or Sprint if it is still around) can change prepaid rates on a month's notice. ...

I fail to see how *anyone* claims that the merger violates that Anti Trust act. The company is going to BOMB anyways. Whether it's via acquisition or dissolution. It will still be gone.

One less company for competition.

Have you ever herd of MetroPCS, Boost Mobile, or Simple Mobile? 🤨

I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and just assume your keyboard didn't let you include that missing a in "heard".

I am quite sure the person you're quoting has heard of the providers you mentioned. Of the three I am quite sure that at least two are MVNOs. If you don't know what that is, well than you shouldn't be discussing the wireless industry.

But more importantly, none of these carriers are even a blip on either AT&T or Verizon's radar. And what I mean by that, is that their capacity as a company to offer significant challenges to AT&T or Verizon's customer base is a pipe dream. Do you k...

I'm assuming you woke up on the wrong side of the bed yesterday.

Anyways, back to the topic. MVNO is irrelevant to what I posted (It was competition in case you forgot).

FYI MetroPCS has been in the process of building LTE 4G towers all over the states. Since the end of 2010 if I'm not mistaken.

Seriously? AT&T has acquired multiple other smaller companies over the years and never has it affected pricing. They offer great deals to customers of acquired providers (I know, I work for AT&T and regularly see accounts acquired from other carriers). They even allow them to keep the rate plans they had from the other provider. There is a lot of competition in the wireless industry, more choices than ever- with better service being offered by more companies. Customers have a lot of choice. And the cost of owning and using wireless services has actually decreased over the years. I can recall having $500 phone bills 10 years ago because companies still charged roaming... remember those days? The acquisition of TMobile will not drive up p...
