I work in the wireless industry, and the first thing that jumps out about this article is the fact that iphone4 is like any other Apple product, closed...meaning you cannot access the interior of the phone. There isn't a micro SIM card slot accessible without tearing the phone apart. The second thing is T-Mobile's network...HSPA+ isn't 4G, it's 3G on Steroids. Currently there are 2 types of iphone4's on the market, one that is sold by ATT and runs off their GSM, and one that is sold by Verizon and operates on CDMA. If T-Mobile had anything to do with developing any type of software that would allow a competitors devices to function on their network don't you think it would be all over the news and in courtrooms across America? You can't...

Huh?

The GSM iPhone 4 most certainly has an accessible SIM card slot. It's on the side. Look at one.

There are plenty of ways to (legally) unlock an iPhone, and you can even buy them unlocked. From Apple. Here:

Once you have an unlocked iPhone, you can use it with any GSM network just like any other GSM phone.

It's true that you won't be able to access T-Mobile's WCDMA/HSPA network; that's the only catch.

Actually thats not the only catch, if you goto he tmo link provided it takes you to the micro sim, as well as a 2 year contract to get it.

Yeah, that is from the website. If you have a device that takes a Micro SIM, you activate service, and want a Micro SIM, go to a T-Mobile store. They might just give you one for free.

1. Apple now sells unlocked iPhones that can be used on any GSM network.

2. The GSM iPhone 4 has a tray that is easily popped out to access the microSIM card. It is on the right side of the phone.

3. All GSM iPhones work on scores of networks and countries around the world.

4. T-Mobile doesn't need to develop software for the iPhone. Any unlocked iPhone will function on any GSM network as long as the proper SIM card is used.

5. T-Mobile is not infringing on copyrighted/patented technology or products by offering this service.

6. T-Mobile refers to i's HSPA+ network as 4G. Whether or not you agree with T-Mobile's definition of 4G is your beef with them, not Phone Scoop for referencing it as such.

The Industry standard for 4G is defined by the same body as 3G. I do not know what the name of that body is, but to have TRUE 4G service, mobile data must transmit at a minimum of 100 Mbps, and station must to 1 Gbps.

There are NO 4G services available. LTE is NOT true 4G, as it can not sustain 100 Mbps.

The body you speak of is International Telecommunications Union (ITU). They amended their standard for 4g and what you can call 4g last year when at&t and T-Mobile started calling their 4th generation service HSPA + 4g. So now WIMAX, and HSPA + IS 4g. Doesn't really matter how fast it is as long as it's a lot faster than 3g..and it is..In the big scheme of things...who cares..it's just marketing..

Hey it's faster than Sprint's WiMAX running off of garbage 2.5GHz spectrum. I get 7-8mbps on my Sensation in my apartment in NYC when my friend barely gets a WiMAX signal. indoors with EVO 3D. So who wins in that scenario? Sprint's "4G" or T-Mo's "4G"? I'll take T-Mo's "4G" any day. It beats AT&T in the city as well. Who gives a crap if it's "3G on steroids" It works. Low ping times and fast speeds

And this has to do with TMO's micro-sim, how?

It took me one Google search to find the 10-second instructions for replacing a SIM card in the iPhone 4. Maybe if I had more experience in the wireless industry, I would not have embarrassed myself by ignorantly finding the necessary information so quickly.

I am pretty sure that using an unlocked phone on another network is not considered copyright infringement.

I am not trying to be rude or be a jerk but I will tell you like it is!! Wireless Reps that run their mouth off like this are what give the wireless industry a bad name. You said that you work in the wireless industry but you don't even know how one of the most popular devices across the board works!! The Verizon iPhone does not have a sim slot because it is CDMA only ! But The ATT One does have a Micro Sim on the side of the phone which requires a paper clip or something similar to eject it! Another thing is There is no such thing as iPhone 4g yet it still uses 3G and it does not have the guts to use 4g so of course it will use 3g if the bands are there for it. This has not one thing to do with 4g and I get so sick of everyone calling the i...

The iPhone 4 is a 4g iPhone. It is the fourth generation iPhone manufactured by Apple, while it is not capable of utilizing att's 4G wireless network this does not mean it is not a 4G iPhone. I can only imagine what you people will be saying on here if apple calls its next model an iPhone 5 when a 5g NETWORK is unheard of you would be the first person to start a fraud petition i bet, lets continue fighting ignorance with ignorance and twisting words and see where we all end up

It may be the 4th generation Iphone smart guy but no place on the phone or the box does it have a G after the 4. I am only talking about the Iphone 4 not having 4g lte bands in it. There is not a Iphone 4g call it that if you will but that's not the name of it. I can make 4 generations of cars but does that mean we throw a G at the end???? I think not!! What is your problem ? If you call the Iphone 4 a Iphone 4g you are not very bright !! They called the Iphone 3 and Iphone 3g or a 3gs but The Iphone 4 is not branded Iphone 4g. Come one don't be ridiculous a petition? I can sum you up with one word (My username fits you perfectly!)
