Cars do cause cancer. The smog that they create is possibly cancerous just like cellphone use. But then again so does working late nights according to the WHO.

Smog is nox and sox caused by cars that do not have a 2-stage emission control system (old cars), or older cars that have a carb. Cars with 2 stage converters emit nox for only seconds after ignition, which is not enough to cause smog.
Besides, I dont think that was the point. Everything causes cancer. Everything. Think about it. Do you have an air conditioner? How do you know it is not leaking Ethylene or Propylene Glycol ? Are you sure? How about your Sofa? Is it made of fabric? If it is, it probably is coated in flame retardent, which is also a carcinogen. Actually if you noticed there is a correlation between breathing Oxygen and cancer. Anyone who has ever had cancer has also breathed oxygen.
