it's so feraking expensive compared to the competition...

Spotify $5/10/month
Pandora $3/month ($36/year)

well... grooveshark is 6/9 per month which is more expensive than I thought it'd be...

I'll pay $3/month... screw playing $5-10 per month for songs I don't own.

The real question is....how much would anyone PAY for online radio and WHY? I checked out the $36/Year Pandora subscription. The ONLY thing you get for paying this money is ad suppression. You don't get any more skips per hour or anything else. So why buy it?

If you can click the X on the ads every once in a while, you are getting the exact same experience as those who PAID the $36 subscription fee.

I don't pay for it now, but I would pay it if they gave you unlimited skips and unlimited channels, though.

I generally don't skip, it plays in the background at work... I'll up/down-vote something I really like/hate and that gets stuff I want to listen to in rotation playing while I work.

* Ad suppression (Not really an issue for me: AdBlock + MVPS hosts list, but still applicable on my phone)
* desktop app (ability to minimize to system tray, no "whoops I closed the browser", no hunting for the "Are you still listening?")
* "Are you still listening?" pop-ups every 4 hours vs every hour
* No 40 hour limit (I normally listen to it at work... but I do listen to it while driving or...

I'm located in the US so Spotify hasn't been an option for me.

I paid for Pandora almost a year ago (Late August I think) and haven't regretted the $36 expense.

Skip limit:
6 per hour
12 per day (for free users)

Quality of Stream:
From what I read, free is "64k AAC+" vs "192k MP3" for paid.

I tend to think that they both sound roughly the same in ear buds, but some might be able to tell the difference
