I have been saying for years. Owning a cell phone and using a wireless network is like driving a car. You have to pay attention all the time. Understand signs and be able to read. I wouldn't be completely opposed to consumers having to get a license to own and operate a mobile phone. DAMN good idea! Especially people in the deep south. Wireless service was the worst idea for the south. Lack of education maybe to blame. Therefore licenses might educate them. just a thought. 😛

However I can't count the times I've heard a customer say "That store told me no roaming anywhere in the USA" (meaning anywhere on that carriers network!) So the misinformation at the POS is acurate but not reading their bills or knowing the plans is B.S. If the customers are not able to read their service plan and agreement. Then dial 1-800-ABCDEFG (Hooked on Phonics!)

Unfortunately wireless services and plans are sold in retail stores. Retail personnel are not known for being knowledgable and sometimes will stretch the truth to make a "deal" look sweeter.
I have been both customer care and retail and I believe that the customer just wants their phone to work the way it was sold to them that it would.
Unfortunately retail salespeople will say many things to customers either out of misunderstanding or just to help make the sale. Even in the store I am in we must constantly listen to our people in order to make sure the customer's expectation when they leave the store equals reality when they get their bills.
Add to this the fact that for most carriers the "free" phones and low end plans are what is rec...
