Shoot enough pellets and pray one of them stick. It worked for android so maybe there is hope for blackberry if the OS is as customizable as android and the hardware still doesn't look like all the old blackberry's. Apple has been the only one that has gotten away with the same old design and even they are feeling the pressure to make a change now.

Next couple of years shall be interesting. 😎

I don't think Apple is feeling any pressure. Are iphone sales down?

iPhone is simply not Taking over the world like the iPod did for Digital Media Players. Android is leading the market with almost a 20% (and rising) larger user base than iPhone.

I'm sorry, I didn't answer the question. Under VZW iphone sales were indeed down for Q2 2011. ATT reported drops in sales as well.

Can everyone say "IPhone5" 😲 🙂

I for one am holding out for the IPhone5 esp if it has LTE. And I do not think I am alone, unlike ET 😁

Keep holding out, far as everything I've read it has no intention of being LTE or 4G of any kind. As usual seem the iPhone will be behind the curve. I don't consider myself a fanboy of anything, first off I'm a girl lol second off I consider myself an iPhone hater. lol But that doesn't change the fact that LTE and 4G is not coming to the iPhone yet.

Everything I have read says the same. No 4G. There are still trade offs at this point for incorporating LTE into phones anyway. One of the largest for RIM and Apple are reduced battery life issues at this point. Both companies are placing a higher priority on it. Another is that the processors they want to use aren't even available yet until ne...

You don't wait for sales to be in the red before making a change. You can listen to the feedback of the market. All of these billion dollar companies have teams who constantly survey the market.

I wish I had the iPhone. I like it as is, but that is maybe because I've never had one. but for the ppl that have had the iPhone since the first one, they are saying the OS is perfect (let them tell it) but they are saying they are looking for something new. I'm not saying personally that they need some drastic change, but I think rumor has it Apple will be releasing a larger screen version or either a smaller screen to take a piece of the pie that belongs to the freebies (Intro level smartphone).

Like I said, the next years should be interest...

...which is it? I got my lady an iphone and she loves it. But...she still wants a new one when it is released. She's not clamoring for a new iphone.

If there are people who claim to love the phone but want something different or they will cross over to another manufacturer...I would not want to have their love.

lol well its not about love, its the love of the money. I think we will see Apple introduce a new model either this years launch or for sure by next years launch, that is my guess btw.

It will be interesting, but unless they make some drastic changes, a HUGE facelift and a revamped App World, i don;t see anything changing for the better for RIM.

I personally never owned a blackberry, I never had liked their OS, but I hear that the BB6 or what ever the new OS is called is really seamless, and easy flowing for the user, even new users.

I too agree that the major change has to be physically and I don't really know their app world, but I hear they are trying to get android apps to work on the phone.

RIM never worried about mass market appeal back in the day because they had the Enterprise market sewn up.

agreed.
Now its so many competitors spending millions if not billions on trying to tap into the enterprise market.

Microsoft just released news on making their phone able to monitor servers remotely from your smartphone. It was an article that was on phonescoop I think.

I can't wait for the nokia/microsoft devices start rolling out

BB7 which is essentially an improved BB6 will introduced on these phones. Android apps are capable of working in the Playbook with the QNX OS through an emulator I believe.
Next year when QNX makes it into their smartphone lineup I wonder if we might see that ability to run Android apps. Would be a smart move.

Won't see much groun...

It might be too late for RIM next year. Should have been this year for QNX, RIM is now trying to rush to market.

RIM has billions lying around. No danger of them going under for a long time. They are only having problems in the US and Latin American markets actually. Everywhere else they are doing really well.

I hear they thought about going straight to QNX, but that meant nothing new for 2011 at all. I think QNX needs dual core processors and those won't be out until next year for the masses.

So for now I think they will lose market share in the US.
