Is This The End For Me and RIM?

I was really looking forward to this phone, always loved the Bold and with the touchscreen it was always what I wished for, but... looks like RIM is really getting to the point where it is time to consider a different phone (and I have been a blackberry fan for many, many years). Hate to say it but the iphone would be where I would go. I have the ipod and have to admit the programs (and there are so many more) are better but it is the lack of a keypad that has always kept me away from it. Maybe this old guy can get used to it, its spell checker is so good that it somewhat makes up for the lack of a keypad but I have never loved it when using the ipod. Would wait for the iphone 5 to switch (which is coming out close to the same time - big...

I have the Bold on Verizon now and I have an upgrade making my palm itch to use on something ... is it time to switch platforms? I need a smartphone with an excellent hardware keyboard and I'm so used to how RIM does things, solid, stolid, and professional. The unit I have is in perfect working order so I can wait some more, just this is a really disappointing news update. What's the holdup? Carrier testing?

Also, where does the Storm 3 "Monaco" figure in all of this? Out at Christmas or something? Never?

If youre thinking of leaving RIM dont wait just leave. Get the iphone or whatever youve been looking at for the past year.

On the historic call, which featured both Co-CEOs Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis delivering the results commentary and tag teaming the Q&A period, the following was what Mike had to offer in regards to the lull in new BlackBerry phones:

We were already well down a development path to the next-generation BlackBerry handsets when we realized that in the US the features and performance arms race demanded that we upgrade the chipset and port BlackBerry to a higher-performance platform. This was an engineering change that affected hardware and software...

Well I have to agree that I am a little perplexed as well regarding them holding the Bold 3 off for the time being. However, given RIM's reputation for fantastic products (all Playbook jokes aside lol), I would wait just a WEE bit longer.

If you TRULY do not wish to wait and want to jump ships to a different platform...Apple is NOT the way to go. Look into Android. Android is developing applications over 5 times as quickly as Apple, and on top of that 60% of Android applications are FREE versus the 20% of applications free for Apple.

That...and Apple just doesn't make a good product. Yes there will be some Apple fanboys bashing me for saying this, but the facts stand. Apple does NOT put alot of quality into their product. They just "in...
