Consumer Reports bashes the living SH1T out of them for being the LOWEST RATED carrier of the Big 4 in all its user surveys.

I read an article a while back from the WSJ about a big hoo-ah where some smaller carriers bribed the CS reviewers with pretty decent sums. They didn't falsify information per se, but their "random" selection of AT&T customers were about 80% iPhone users from NY, NJ and SF which are the three largest congested areas. It smudged the #'s a little but for the life of me I can't find anything about the orig. article. Not even on the WSJ archives. ๐Ÿคจ

Let me put it this way... how many GREAT experiences have you written companies about?

Now, how many bad experiences have you written companies about?

Consumer reports = innacurate.

I've never had anyone call in and say "You're doing a great job! Keep it up! (Nor have I had the inclination to do so myself for any company, no matter how pleased I was with them.) I have called up to b*tch though...so...makes sense Paul.

I agree with what you are saying about calling in only when things go bad.

However, it is fair to point out that while you may thing consumer reports is inaccurate, all of the carriers are judged the same way. So it is not that based on your argument, ATT is getting judged any harsher than Verizon/Sprint/T-Mobile. Really, what it may be saying is that ATT has more negative reports from consumers than the rest of the carriers.

they also have the second largest customer base in the country. that coupled with everyone wanting an iphone when they can neither afford it nor want to pay for metered data plan. I know from first hand experience that counts for a massive amount of traffic in my center.

so it would stand to reason consumer reports would say that.

Yeah, that makes sense.

There's just a lot of DUMB people in the world. Another example is the Android market. Great applications suffer 3 star ratings due to stupid consumers. Alot of Home Replacement Aps (Launchers, which I use because I get so bored with the standard TW Launcher) get poor ratings because, "I cannot find in my aps" etc. Makes me scream, "It's a LAUNCHER!!!!!!!"

It's just hard to take consumer reports seriously. A great experience warrants being happy, feeling satisfied... so, it's only natural for any human to leave it alone. Not many people think to write a good report, or to write somebodies manager and tell them how helpful they were. A bad experience warrants complaints, etc. It's a one sided deal. Spri...

Another way to think of it...

How many negative user reviews on phonescoop make kind of rediculous claims?

For instance, the Pantech Persuit got a User Review that said the screen just cracked... I'm willing to bet that's a bit of a stretch. Really? Your kid didn't press to hard on the screen or drop it? Suuuuure.

Plus, out of context any phone can be a peice of crap... just like any company can be. If I wanted a smartphone I wouldn't buy a QMD. If I wanted coverage for phone calls and money was no object... I wouldn't pick AT&T. Everyone knows Verizon has more coverage in most areas... and even though AT&T has really built their coverage... it's still not up to par... but, coverage in my area is fine and I like saving 20 buck...

I think what you gave is an example of why relying on a reputable company that tests equipment is a beneficial thing to check. Not only that but if what your saying is true then the phenomenon would affect all products equally and in now way diminish Tue average user score.

Well, there are people who write good reports. It's just slightly more rare. I've been in retail (phones, clothes etc) for 11 years on and off. Ever wonder why managers rarely take a complaint seriously? If the manager knows your work ethic, they will disguard any complaint.

I don't understand. How is consumer reports biased and against whom? What does this bias consist of? At&t is also ranked lowest by jd power, do they share the same bias?

You say you used to rage in your head when one of your customers would cite consumer reports, again I'm confused. Are you saying that your experience in an electronics showroom is more valuable in determining quality than the experience of buying the appliances in question, running them against each other, and culling reviews from thousands of customers? So much more valuable that the foolishness of citing them would cause you rage?

lol.

I don't trust consumer reports. There's so many other great outside sources to judge products on.
