I find it somewhat insulting

I know it is in Sprint's (and every other carrier's) best interest to generate a profit however possible. I understand that one great way to do this is by forcing certain applications down the user's throats that they might not otherwise use, or may use a competing app for the same purpose. It makes complete sense to me that you also would make it difficult to remove these apps to avoid customers blindly tidying up their devices and inadvertently removing the apps before they have even been used.

Though, in no way shape or form does it make any sense to me what-so-ever that you would make it entirely impossible to remove these applications from an already extremely limited memory on a device that the customer fully owns. (I consider the a...

Word.

I was going to wait a year before I root... then an Otterbox scratched my phone by putting slight scratches at the bottom of the screen. This was my Q to not care anymore, but I still haven't rooted my phone.

I've also found that GoLauncher and other replacement homes have the capability to hide any ap you want hidden. It's nice, but it does not free memory.

I'm just tired of a 16 GB phone only being 14GB due to bloatware from the Carrier.

It's not going to be 16GB anyway because manufacturers lie about the GB's.....the actual definition of a GB is 1024 MB, however manufacturers like to pretend that 1000 MB is equal to a GB, so whatever number they give you the real number is always going to be lower.

True. But 48 MB isn't enough to change a 16GB phone to a 14GB phone. The captivate, fresh out of the box, as is, equals 13.2 GB I believe (don't quote me). This means that 3 GB of bloatware is taking up some major space.

Then again, you can buy a 32 GB card and BAM.

I think the 3GB includes the OS as well....out of all the smartphones on the market the only one I know of which mentions the amount of 'free' space available is the Palm Pre...

This strategy has the exact opposite affect on me. I will NEVER use skype, amazon mp3, city id, or Verizon back-up assistant, since they pre-installed them on my phone, and don't give me the option to remove them!! I get really tired of having to go into running services, and shutting down these unneeded, unwanted apps just so I can cut down on battery usage!
And Verizon, putting Bing as the default search on an Google Android phone is an insult to me and to Google. You should be ashamed, because all you think about is money, and you are very out of touch with what your customers want...

Who cares about the default search engine? It takes all of 3/4 of a millisecond to change it, and any searches you do will usually be done my mobile app anyway......
