Sam The Eagle says, "You are all weirdos!"

There really shouldn't be any concern on the merger if both companies want it. It's all just a show giving us something to talk about.

The real problem is that the news leaked this story to the public (outside of the techy, geeky, cell phone world) and now every AT&T and T-mobile employee gets asked the same stupid questions. For instance... asking t-mobile if they (the customer) can pay their ATT bill. Or vice versa. Does the news have any idea how stupid people are?

Just the other day I spent a LONG while trying to find someone's account. When I told them their account doesn't exist they flipped out, screamed, cursed. I called customer service, nothing ... only to realize that they are the other companies customer. Do you kno...

Maybe some of us being customers with T-Mobile for nearly 10 years like myself are concerned about the future of our wallets with a company like AT&T? Maybe others, who are not customers of either, are just concerned about the cellular market as a whole consolidating into just 2 "super" carriers with 100 million+ customers each. This "Duopoly" would likely also decimate all of our collective wallets. Not everyone can work at a cell company and receive the discount you get.

I don't get a discount, actually. I haven't gotten a company phone. Most cell phone companies (authorized retailers and corporate) have to pay COST for the phone. So, an iphone would cost me whatever it costs the company (aka 500 plus bucks). So, I just stuck with my plan I had. Now, if I did go with my companies plan I would spend 3 to 500 bucks on a new smartphone and then pay 25 a month. There are great discounts, but this is a high turnover rate Job... and normally there are assesments and tests you have to take in order to recieve a phone with the company ... and you still pay for it.

On any note, I feel your pain as far as worrying about T-mobiles price changes... but you seem smart, so I would assume you're not trying to pay you...

A lot of people view AT&T has a giant faceless corporation that treats people like dirt could care less what the public thinks. As an AT&T employee who calls customers “Weirdos” you really reinforce that that belief. These “Weirdos” that call you are the ones that keep you employed.

I was calling everyone on phonescoop weirdos, and quoting from Muppets. Sam The Eagle... duh. Should I call the Wahmbulance? Plus, I don't work for corporate AT&T, so there goes your theory.

I personally take a lot of time with customers, call them back 3 months later to make sure their phones are great and see if there's anything they need (internet service on their phones, at their house, accessories etc.) for a discounted bundled price. You know what AT&T, Verizon, T-mobile, US Cellular, Sprint etc etc. think of that? They hate it! If you spend an hour with a customer on a tech issue then guess who gets screamed at... not the effing customer. I DO! I could be a skeezy salesmen and just sell people anything that made me more money ...

One more thing ... I'm sure you are employeed somewhere and have specific customers you just can't stand. It happens in every business, including health care... As a whole, I have great customers. But when some idiot interrupts me while I'm with a paying customer to ask questions about the merger... that's when I say, "I'm sorry, you'll have to wait in line"

My apologies, but you came across as an AT&T employee and I have had to deal with the arrogant AT&T attitude before. Also, I know who Sam The Eagle is and what the quote is from. I was watching the Muppet Show during the 70's with my frat brothers in college. I have been working in sales and customer service as an account manager in the wireless industry since 1995. Even though I don't work in a retail store, I know how how some of them can drive you crazy.

I disagree that there shouldn't be any concern just because "both companies want it," but I wholeheartedly agree that the news coverage on the deal is terribly inaccurate, the people watching the news coverage are stupid, and I'm really tired of having customers argue with me about whether AT&T has already bought T-Mobile or not.

One moron even tried to tell me that she already knows AT&T will operate T-Mobile as a separate company, and the only change will be T-Mobile getting the iphone in 2013. Seriously? What orifice did you pull that out of?
