Did you skip the part where the article mentions like another 20 phones before the end of the year built for LTE?

Or the part where everybody would cry their faces off and go running to their mommies if AT&T released an LTE-capable phone before LTE was available? *coughHSPA+cough*

Personally I dont consider HSPA 14 to be HSPA+. I consider HSPA 21, and HSPA 42 to ve HSPA+. Tmo is the only carrier deploying real HSPA+. ATT lacks ambition.

A measly 5 cities launching with LTE. No mention of average real worl speeds. No usb modems announced.

Same old, same old lack of ambition from ATT.

Lack of ambition, mediocee at best. At least every other carrier pre-released LTE devices, the end of summer is not very far away. Also, they're supposed to be backwards compatible so go ask yourself. It just seems like more weak garbage like the release of their flagship 4G devices. That were disabled without telling anyone....

I just dont get what the deal is with ATT. They have 90+m customers, lots of lots of business customers with BB's, millions, and millions of zombie Iphone users, billions and billions in revenue, and yet they launch LTE in a measly 5 cities. Not only that but they dont even deploy real HSPA+, 21mbps. A carrier a 3rd the size of ATT is the one deploying real HSPA+, even pushing it as far as HSPA+ 42mbps.

I just dont get what the deal is, they certainly have the revenue & resources, just lack the foresight.

Thanks for agreeing with me for telling the truth. There are so many people on this site who resort to using the word "troll", because its easier to accuse someone of being a "troll" than it is to accept the truth. I swear some people on this site use the word "troll" like some people loosely use the word "racist. When words are used so loosely they lose meaning.

No matter how someone feels about something the truth is still the truth.

And in this case, the truth is ATT lacks ambition.

Jay, it's not that you don't speak truth, it's that some times you post stuff off topic in hopes to get a response. I like you better than others on here, but I have a couple of questions...Do you think AT&T lacks ambition? And would you mind linking a post where you might have stated that AT&T lacks ambition? 😉

It's all a game. AT&T is trying to look as helpless as possible so the FCC will approve the TMO deal, IMO.

I'm not defending them, btw.

In the meantime when people on ATT see people like me getting 20+mbps on my smartphone they will be looking to leave. ATT is the slowest of the big 4.

Btw, unless someone is using the USB Rocket 3.0 from Tmo therw is no chance of getting 20+mbps.

I did duh.

You guys on phone scoop need to stop differentiating between smartphones and pc's.

They both have 1ghz+ proxessing cPabilities, in some cases dual-core, fully capable web browsers with flash, it is a desktop experience. And YES it was on my smartphone that I got that speed. Samsung Droid Charge, Verizon LTE, Las Vegas.

Thanks. I chose it over the TB for 2 reasons.

1. Super AMOLED screen.
The colors pop!!!

2. Physical button at the bottom rathwr than touch capacitive.

All this talk about these evil tiered data plans coming. I dont know if I will be able to use an unlimited 3G rate plan on a future 4G smartphone, so out of fear of losing unlimited data I went out and got the Droid Charge. I even got a case with a built-in kickstand.

It's also nice to have a whole lot more internal memory. With the LG Ally I had before this I would always get low memory warnings, not anymore!

Their poor excuse of a network that they tout as HSPA+ (4G) is blazing at a snail's pace. This device is only capable once they decide what they're gonna do to deploy LTE nationwide. But if their current transition from 3G to HSPA+ is any indicator of things to come don't get too excited. More vaporware to compliment the steam rising from this big pile of crap.

I agree to an extent, although you're embellishing quite a bit. Their network isn't TERRIBLE but they're certainly better at talking it up than actually building it up.

I'm just so disgusted with the way they're implementing their HSPA+rollout. First I get Atrix and was informed that it's fully capable to run on their "4G" which I took with a grain of salt. I didn't expect much but it really was not much faster than on 3G. I complained that my uploads were slow and was then informed that HSUPA waz disabled. All I can say that although speeds are marginally improving, I am dropping calls left, right, and center. And i'm constantly dropping out of data sessions with the radio cutting out in full signal areas. And surf while talking? Forget it.....it's about a tenth of the speed surfing while talking.....

All I can say is that my brother who had AT&T/Cingular since 2001 switched to Verizon the day before we meet up for our children's spring break at the end of March this year. In Orlando, FL his LG ThunderBolt got LTE speeds of 30+Mb download and 10+ Mb upload. He had three devices in his hotel room surfing the web with no hour glass symbol - you know what I am talking about - (iPad1, and 2 laptop computers) on his MiFi feature turned on his TBolt.

In fact I got an email a few days ago from him expressing his cont excitement on his 'new' phone (9 wks old now).

After yrs of encouragement, he finally widen his horizons with Verizon 😁 .

I cut a small portion of his email from May 20, 2011. I sent him a news article about Verizon ending the unlimited Data plans this Summer and possibly getting the iPhone 5 this Fall.

He replied back:
"This is one of the reasons that I jumped to Verizon when I did. In theory, I have unlimited 4G, though still a little pricey. I love it 🙂"
