Replying to: Battery Life, is anyone else noticing this? by gideonnn555 Jul 3, 2006, 2:51 PM
We've had our demo model since the 27th and have had no issues with battery life. There may a few things that are affecting your battery with your SK3 that was never an issue with your old SK2. 1)It is now a removable battery. Any battery that can be removed from a device will have less capacity than a battery that is fixed into the device. It is rated at 1500 mAh (milliamps) which is by far the most powerful battery available for any mobile device. 2)The SK3 uses EDGE technology (5x faster) instead of GPRS technology for web access. This increase in data transfer speed may consume more battery power. 3)BLUETOOTH! If you have the bluetooth radio on, battery life is greatly affected. And even more battery power is used when you have the Bluetooth on AND using a Bluetooth headset. If you're not using a bluetooth headset, turn your Bluetooth off and this will save on battery. 4)Geographic location: The #1 thing that affects battery consumption is the relative signal strength of the device. If you're in an area of poor/no reception, your SK3 (or any mobile device) will use a lot of battery power to search for reception. This will consume your battery just as fast as if you were talking on it. 5)Environmental factors: Relative temperature, humidity and transition from temperature extremes (hot to cold areas) Whew...
