An Improvement?

Not much in my opinion.

They made a marginal improvement to the pixel density, and put a dual core processsor in the X2. Unless there are more specifics to be announced, it doesn't seem like that much of an improvement from the original Droid X.

If the picture depicted is the actual Droid X2, they didn't appear to change anything about that either.

I just recieved a mock version of the X2 in store today. The only physical difference that i could tell is the lack of a physical camera button.

Wow. I don't think getting rid of the physical camera button was a good idea (if they keep it that way). One of the biggest complaints that reviewers of phone always have is "no physical camera button." I bought the first Droid X the day it came out last summer, and the physical camera key was one thing I really liked about it.

Unless they do end up making changes before they offer the phone to customers, I don't think this is a step in the right direction for the Droid X family.

Well, this is a logical step (think differences between og droid and droid 2) for the droid x line. Beefier processor and nicer screen, but not much of a change otherwise.

The droid x has been priced similarly to the X2 for most of its life. If given the choice between an X and an X2 with only a $50 difference, i don't see why you wouldn't go with the X2.

My inventory just arrived. I can't unlock it with the standard "touch 4 corners" method. Started with top left, top right, bottom right, bottom left with no luck.

EXACT same form factor which will be nice because the existing cases, media stand and car kits will work. Can't really comment on the screen as all I see is the Android Logo and numeric keypad at activation.

Any help on the unlocking of the activation screen would be appreciated.

The DROID X 2 by Motorola requires OTA Programming be performed. If an OTA has not been performed, user can bypass the Activation Screen by touching all four corners, corners need to be touched (going clockwise) starting Top-Left / Top-Right / Bottom-Right / Bottom Left, Touch right above green line for Bottom-Right / Bottom Left.

**Ensure user does not touch the grey parts of the screen.**

Looks like its about the same.. just that the bottom presses are right above the green line. Let me know if it works because ill have to be doing this sooner or later.

Sorry Tx.

That's still what is says in our manual programming guide. You did note that on the bottom taps you need to press ABOVE the green line, right?

I probly won't have one in my hands for a few weeks.

Good luck!

Yup, just above the line and in many other ways too.
