Afraid of some friendly competition Verizon? Personally I welcome it. The more competition more the costs come down.

The less change VZ or AT&T's stockholders have of making a profit the less change of network growth. Its not the FCC's money. They build the system they get to charge the freight.

Lobbying the government to FORCE your competitors to let you use their products/ infrastructure does NOT equal "friendly competition."

I don't care, lol I will still welcome the lowering prices as they force them to have to compete with the smaller guys.

It's not going to force anyone to compete or lower prices. The carriers they are talking about are so small they can't afford to build out their own network. So, the FCC is going to force the major carriers to share their structure they spent money to build out. These smaller carriers can't compete anyway, and it will make the major carriers raise their prices to compensate for having to support the smaller carriers that are too poor or too cheap to build it out themselves. It's like forcing Game Stop to sell their games to a mom and pop store at lower prices so the other stores can have games too.

So if you lived in rural area but did occasionally travel so you had Verizon but then you find that your local carrier was now able to roam on another's network. You could then switch to the local and save some money but still get the advantage of the larger network.

While this wouldn't be a large majority of users this situation would occur. I dont know. I mean part of me does think that the government shouldn't have stepped in but I will look at the bright side of things, at the sametime it's not like I will cry a river if it gets overturned.

Ha!! Just wait till you get your land all developed and exactly how you want it....spending your hard-earned money to install your pool, and the dock by your little lake.......and the fridge all stocked with your favorite beer....

AND THEN the government TELLS you you HAVE to share it with your neighbors AND, they tell you what you can charge!!!

HA HA HA HA......think much?

Wow..... that doesn't even remotely fit. Your comparing a corporate situation to a private situation. I would imagine from your constant uneducated opinion being thrown in my face that you must be a Verizon customer lmao.

They do that already. Ever heard of the Indians?

And the government does not now or have they ever determined the price of roaming.

I don't really see why you guys are constantly bringing up comparisons with normal everyday folks. So an individual who owns his own land is compared to a multi-billion dollar corporation with government officials in its pockets?
Couldn't you at least come up with a comparison with another poor defenseless multi-billion dollar corporation? Oh wait.

Again, I only point this out because Verizon is what it is today because of mandated roaming agreements. Now they want to make sure no one else gets the same help they did. That creates an unfair competitive environment and that's why it needs to be scrutin...

No, it's in fact a language that has been around for awhile. Perhaps you've heard of it? It's known as "English". Look it up anytime, very interesting stuff.
