OMG Please if we have a government as an advocate that protects the interest of the American Wireless Consumer please don't less this deal pass!

It will make big blue the largest super carrier by a staggering margin.

They will have a monopoly on the GSM market.

They will have unprecedented weight in negotiating roaming agreements in their favor thus increasing what other carriers pay to have their subscribers roam and effectively raising consumer cellular cost.

Give them by sheer volume a strangle hold on all new technology and new handsets from manufacturers by naming their own price leaving other carriers and non AT&T subscribers locked out of new technology at a fair market price.

It's just a raw deal for the American consu...

Who cares about a monopoly for the GSM Market? If things continue the way they're planned for LTE GSM and UMTS will probably be a dead service in 5-10 years.

You do know that if Sprint had bought them, they'd eventually convert people over to their network leaving AT&T...holy cow! A monopoly on the GSM Market!!!...

The sale is going to happen, either to AT&T or another company. Any other company will be ill-equipped to handle the change over. T-Mobile already functions similar to AT&T and would logically provide a smoother transition to the people who will be affected...like actual T-Mobile customers. Not just people who whine about it to whine.

No one knows how AT&T is going to adjust to the purchase either. Everyone is throwing a ...

It does not matter who can handle the transition better. In an industry with far more choices, this analysis may prove relevant. However, since one of the last of the Mohicans is on the chopping block, I prefer to have another purchaser to handle the Guillotine.

@ John B .. in a forum that is usually loaded with wireless industry nobodys, has beens and know it alls .. I am appreciative of your simply stated one line reality checks that put fan bois and trolls in their place.

Fact is t mobile is going to collapse and AT&T is not the savior that the wireless market needs in this tragedy.

the fact of the matter is geeks is right.

att is the only company with enough capital to handle a gsm to gsm transition.

if tmobile would have gone under and deutsche telekom sold off the spec and towers who do you think would have gobbled them up? certainly not sprint. and we'd be in the same situation now. one major choice for gsm.

and what really is astonishing is that the majority of you wouldnt be crying wolf if big red were the one buying. You're all fan boys in your own way so pot calling the kettle black really shows me your hypocricy.

I was against Sprint buying them. I am against AT&T buying them and would certainly against Verizon buying them. If DT wants out they can do the same think Voicestream, Powertel and whatever the hell the other names were did...sell to an outside investor. T-Mobile should stay independent. Period.

but they cant afford it and no one else wants to buy or put up with the headache. att made an offer. DT accepted it.

if your 50,000 house was falling apart and someone offered you 200,000 for it would you sell?

This should not be a surprise. CWA represents the majority of unionized labor within AT&T. The merger would increase the number of employees represented by CWA.

Remember, there are always multiple sides to any issue.
