That's good,. . .but I'm still waiting.

That is good but I am still going to continue to wait. There is way, way too much going on with smartphones right now to bother upgrading. I'm waiting for the industry to get it's act together with NFC mobile payments before upgrading.

So I will continue to pass on current hardware.

So why not just buy a phone that will be NFC compatible so that you can enjoy a new smartphone and know that when NFC does exist it will be available to your phone? 😉

NFC is currently available on like what? 2 smartphones? If that? I'm waiting for Q4.

I'm -currently- with Vzn. And they don't offer any choice when it comes to LTE smartphones, both are ALL touch with screens that are toooo big. So there is another reason I will continue to wait.

Other than LTE, and NFC, and of course a REAL keyboard, another feature that is really, really important to me is either Samsung's Super AMOLED Plus, Sony's S-LCD, or LG's NOVA screen technology. I want either one of those nexgen displays on my next smartphone.

When has it ever NOT been true that there is tons of new, exciting stuff coming on 'the next generation' device?

At any rate, I've never felt any need to always have the 'best and most up to date' anything because you are guaranteed to always be chasing rainbows...

So spending time in forums about cellphoness is cool, but Facebook makes you a fake person?

Makes tons of sense

You're argument doesn't have a valid premise...

You spend time on phonescoop.com cause you're into wireless tech.

Most people who spend time on Facebook are into social networking.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

If one really looks at it, phonescoop isn't too dissimilar from facebook.

We may not be networking on here like on facebook, but this is a place where people can get together to talk about certain topics concerning wireless technology.

Facebook has pages and groups that serve that exact same purpose.

lol no FB can and for me, is for a person that has moved around his whole life. I have friends through out the US and its hard keeping in touch with them all, especially family. Sometimes you don't necessarily want to talk to them on the phone in a direct conversation but you can comment on something that is on their mind that they have posted on their wall and etc.

FB is really good for ppl in the military as well to keep up with everyone and us College students to communicate back and forward without having to give out your number.

Sorry for the punctuation errors lol

agreed and its for getting in touch with grade school and high school friends(also childhood friends)..so if you think about it..facebook is for people who actually LIVED and are still alive and stays in touch with their social group...contrary with the OP's definition of people on facebook =0

Not many exciting features have happened recently like NFC mobile payments, to me, not only are mobile payments exciting but revolutionary!

Revolutionary!!! so opening an app on your phone to pay is more revolutionary and simplified than swiping a card? Yeah right!!

It replaces the need to carry a debit card around. That's what's revolutionary.

Wow, so now I have an extra card slot in my wallet cuz I don't need a credit card. But in the meantime if I leave my phone in the car at Starbucks (which is common amongst consumers) OR, God Forbid, something happens to my PHONE I can't pay for anything. REVOLUTION BABY!!! SIGN ME UP!!!

lol where does this kid get these cliche's from? they're almost hilarious.

FB is for ppl who don't have a life.
Starbucks is for ppl that aren't individuals?
I don't get it... Now personally I've never been to starbucks because I don't/never drank coffee, but I see it as a place I would go if I did drink coffee because they have free wi-fi and being that I'm in school some of us students can get together and go study their while having drinks and etc. maybe I'm just lost though lol

I think he runs out of relevant things to say and feels the need to cut someone down in order to try and get the last word in.

Just yesterday, he hypothesized that since I believe DVD quality movies are just fine, that I must be an old person.

His logic seems to be severly flawed.

I will hear what he has to say so long as it pertains to the subject at hand. If/when he strays from the topic, I will stop replying to him.

I don't really think we're being mean.

Personally I just don't want topics to go off on inconsequential tangents, which is what he usually does when he's bereft of other things to say.

There are sites devoted to letting you gripe, vent and share your opinion about the entire world around you...this doesn't happen to be one of them. I want to talk about what I signed up to talk about...wireless technology. I don't think that's mean or too much to ask of members of a wireless phone website.

Oh, there is definitely a place to vent on this website. Just not where jay likes to lurk.

I've noticed he also like to make very rude an opinionated claims and when somebody calls him on his foolishness he disappears.

I was on the receiving end of one of his comments yesterday when I was talking about the novelty of the features in Android, Ice Cream Sandwich. I said the facial gestures/head movement recognition of the forward facing camera doesn't seem like it is something that would be widely popular or practical. He basically accused me of being against technological advancements, and said

"You probably thought DVD was "just fine" until you saw Blu-Ray. And if you think DVD is still just fine, well your probably an old person."

Pretty bold conclusion to jump to based on very little information.

Which is why from now on, I'm only talking to Jay about things related to phones.

Tbh that will be limited to his ally not having enough internal memory ( but thank goodness you can store apps to the sd card), no decent smart phones with slide out keyboards (even though he champions tech advances) and verizon dropping to 1x way to frequently in his area.

If you check the verizon section of the forums there are two threads where he royally peeved anybody who works for verizon.

He's a class act

Not to mention that my CC info is now on a hackable mobile computing device.
...
timmy23

May 11, 2011, 12:15 PM
I would never store CC information on a phone. If it's lost or stolen, anyone could get your information. I don't care if there are remote ways to wipe your phone clean, or lock it down so no one can get into it.

If people were losing their mind about the iPhone gathering and storing location data, and were scared that Steve Jobs was going to stalk them, imagine what kind of a frenzy it will put them into if there's a breach in security of this, and their credit card info is taken.

I have no complaints about pulling out my wallet and swiping my VISA card when I go grocery shopping.
