I want a atrix or inspire... i never played with a 4G phone or seen the speeds.. but I like my iPhone 4 so I'll stick with 3G for a while... I heard iPhone 4 was getting 4G or is also running on 4G just still shows the 3G icon i don't know but my phone can be fast at timesπ

The iPhone 4 is 3G only. 7.2 mbps. There is nothing you can do to the iPhone 4 to get "4G" speeds.

connecting to a wifi hotspot!
Check. Mate.

There is nothing you can do to the iPhone 4 to make it get "4G" speeds over a cellular network.

Turn on mobile hotspot on your friend's Thunderbolt and connect to it. π
...
So sad the things Iphone users need to do to get 4G speeds.
...
That would be fine and dandy, but if I did that, I'd be getting like just over 1 up. Then again, no LTE down by me.

Isn't there an app for EVERYTHING?
By that definition, the iPhone should be infiniteG.

I think that is so pathetic that this update has to be done over wifi.
Verizon does software updates OTA, likew a real --cellular company--
And another thing is ATT is calling HSPA 14mbps "4G"
This is exactly why I left them, they lack ambition. If they were serious about HSPA+ they would've upgraded to HSPA+ 21, not 14..
...
Jay, maybe they got deal on used hspa+ 14 switches from North Korea since they upgraded to 21 and higer.
...
The iphone 4 is not 4G compatible. the atrix and inspire run at good speeds but do not run off 4G. the HSUPA+ that is being updated is really just a faster 3G until 4G gets dropped later on in the year. whatever steve jobs talks about on june 6th more than likely is gonna be a 4G iphone. but 4G necessarily has not necessarily dropped yet. in my understanding att is waiting for the purchase of tmobile to go through so att can take over t mobile 4G towers instead of spending the money to update there towers now. but

I've just got Dell Streak 5 and I was surprised when I saw the signal on the phone was H, instead of 3G or E! π Wow! I didn't know that Dell Streak was a 4G phone! It's a shame that Atrix and Inspire are both 4G phones but we couldn't use 4G speed from the beginning!
...
H+ 4G coverage is pretty limited right now anyways, so it wasn't that big of a deal for me, as long as they released the update soon and did it right the first time.
...
You do realize the ITU decided back in DECEMBER 2010 that HSPA+ *IS* 4G, right? that's how T-Mobile became "4G".
". the HSUPA+ that is being updated is really just a faster 3G until 4G gets dropped later on in the year. "
