Will there be any prepaid smartphones with these plans?

Like AT&T did recently with the LG Thrive and so forth?

I surely hope so as a huge part of the new service being successful will definitely boil down to available devices. A couple of good smartphones would make it much more attractive. The three compatible "phones" they're planning to offer now are pretty bad.

I wouldn't be opposed to paying $60 monthly for smartphone devices.

Good point.
Verizon appears to be starting with more basic phones first to see how the new offer is received by the public. Most likely if it catches on beyond expectations, they will include smartphones and a higher price appears likely as well.
Yet people are still stuck on the premise that post-paid is the only way to go so it may be a difficult sell.

Now why would Verizon or any other company cut into their premium market share? Think about it...... How many contract customers would they have left if they offered pre paid no frills unlimited service for 50 bucks a month vs $100+. This will remain very limited in handset choices and internet speeds.

The details say that it's only mobile web and doesn't support full web browsing. You also have to remember this is only on the Verizon native network. If you are not on their network you have to pay roaming charges of 20 cents a minute and there is no data roaming.

Have SEEN the Verizon Wireless native network post-Alltel? It is quite expansive.
