Would you choose this over the Samsung Charge 4G for about the same price?

Because

1. HTC offers a much better hardware build quality.

2. A nice upgrade to the original HTC Incredible: bigger screen, front facing camera, larger micro SD card included, etc.

2. 4G is not available everywhere yet.

3. Some people might not even care about 4G.

That's true. Another valid point. I didn't think of that.

I'm curious how Verizon intends to tell it's sales employees to justify the $299 to perspective customers. Especially when the Thunderbolt is $50 cheaper.

You've never been in sales. They don't push any phone over another. They offer the phones. No one is going to try to talk you into a model. The price IS what it IS. The reps don't get paid any more for selling one phone or another. It IS in their best interest to put you into a quality phone though so if they advise you against a particular model it is for your own good NOT because the company wants to move a particular model.

Not everyone is planning to go to 4G. Verizon claims they are going to keep 3G up and running until 2020. So they may as well keep cranking out devices for us dinosaurs.

And you are wondering why someone would choose An Incredible 2 over the Charge? Even if I wasn't gonna have 4G for a while I wouldn't choose the iPhone. For that matter, I wouldn't choose HTC. Never had good experience with HTC. But as you have chosen the iPhone because you prefer Apple (i suppose), people will choose the phone they are most comfortable and find value with, regardless of price or features.

Because personal experience with Samsung phones says I don't want one.

Years ago, I had a Samsung flip phone that wasn't great - it dropped calls, etc. Got a Nokia and it was fantastic. Then got a Samsung slider (gave 'em a second try, because it was such a slick looking phone). Same thing with audio and dropped calls. Then, recently my nephew got an ATT Samsung Android phone and it had major GPS issues. He ditched it for an HTC.

I love Samsung displays and TVs, they're awesome. But their phones, well, I haven't seen a good one yet. :-/

This is not a troll, it's just my personal experience; your mileage may vary.

My experience in tech support tells me the same thing. You'd have to give me a Samsung. Even then...it would probably end up on Ebay and I'd be back in my trust 8300 or Incredible.
