The pricing is just jaw dropping(IMO)! $299.99? I hope they go down a little more. I can't see why it would be more than $250.
...
Maybe they think since you can afford verizon service you can afford to pay 300 dollars for a phone. If i was with verizon i would wait for them to expand the lte network and wait for the ridiculous price to come down.
...
Yes, I probably will. Or go now for the Droid World or something like that. I still like my Droid enough that I have kept it almost two years on a one year contract. First time that has happened to me in years.
...
OR maybe Samsung is charging more for the phone? Come on, tmorep03! it's not always the "Big Evil Red" trying to screw people. MAYBE if T-Mobile did business like Verizon, they wouldn't be trying to sell their business...
...
Dude just saying 300 bucks on a contract isnt a good price..its over the top. Soo you saying you would pay 300 bucks for that phone even though you dont live in an lte market?
...
If that is the phone I wanted. It's not about price, it's about value. What is the value to me. Personally, I will probably pay that price for the Bionic when it launches. I think that $200 is too much for the iPhone 4. Would you pay $2500 for a 55" LED 3D tv?
...
First i am not a big fan of 3d tvs soo No i wouldnt. Well who wants an iphone4 anyway? Who wants to be tracked by their phone everywhere they go 🤣.
...
tmorep03, ALL manufacturers state in their terms and conditions that they may record and track your location. GOOGLE, HTC, RIM, SAMSUNG, WINDOWS, PALM.. all of them. It's not just Apple. The only reason that was found is because Apple actually makes a tool to sync and back up ALL the data on their phone *cough cough HTC cough*...
Take a look

It's ALL about value, very good point.
On a small side note, Verizon carries more than one phone.
Just sayin'.
...
Why would you pay the money you could for a car for a tv 🤣
...
Cause I VALUE my tv more than my car 😁
...
Ok then if thats what you like
...
Assume he drives a 2011 Beamer... then the intrinsic value fluctuates, does it not?
...
lets stick to the main topic which is a phone and not a car or tv. 🤣
...
If it's about "value" then that phone is way over valued for it's ridiculous price. Verizon is charging way more for it's devices than the competition. Similar devices are going for 199 anywhere else.

So, there is another 4G LTE Samsung phone? I know that T-Mobile is offering a Smasung 4G(hspa+) phone...I'm pretty sure that the LTE phone costs more to make than the hspa+ phone AND the value is that it is MUCH faster. But, I like Motorola and LG, so give me the same specs on those makers and, for me I would find value in that. Value is not determined by the seller, but the purchaser. Benefits and features are preented by the seller at whatever price. If the purchaser finds value in that product for that price, then that price is paid. If you don't find value in what you are buying, then by all means, don't buy it.

i concur. you want it? you pay for it. 😉
...
So your answer to the cost is simply "it has LTE"? Well even the Thunderbolt is cheaper and there is no doubt that HTC makes a better product than Samsung. So why is this phone $50 more than HTC's product?
We have also figured out that actually using LTE drains your battery like sparkly vampires drain angst ridden teenage girls. What about 20-30 minutes before you have a dead phone? Not too cool really.
There is no doubt it's going to be a pretty cool phone, but really, drop the corporate yes man crap. No one besides a jerk salesman would try to argue that the price of that phone is fair. Just on stats alone, there are at least 6-7 phones that offer similar if not superior specs. Sorry, LTE isn't worth $100.
...
Thank you Amen to you PH 😁 😁 😁 😁
...
I wasn't saying it was fair, but that it was Samsung's perogative to charge what they want for the phone. If you like it, buy it, if not don't. But don't tell me it is Corporate yes man crap. It has nothing to do with Verizon selling it for more, it has to do with Samsung selling it for more. Personally, I think HTC makes crap. Always has. Always will. Not even a big fan of Samsung. But my point is, quit your b%$*hing. If you want it buy it for $300, if not Buy some other phone.
...
That's just silly. Reality shows us that Verizon consistently charges more for the same or even less. Any disagreement with that is "yes man crap". If you don't like HTC, that's your opinion. It's an opinion not shared by the majority.
...
The speeds aren't really that much different and if you really want to know tmobile does have more 4g areas than verizon
...
No. Not always. They DO take February 29th off.
...
🤣 🤣 🤣 Not on leap year!
...
You are much to smart to be with Verizon!
...
Who are you with, again, Azeron? I know the deal and why, but who was it again? 😉
...
It will eventually go down. with supply and demand, it just may take a few months.
Am I the only one who remembers an age when $300 smartphones were common? Guess so... but it's ironic - I find the same people who whine about phone prices are the same ones who complain about high ETF's... gotta have one or the other.
...
I'm with ya. How about carriers just stop offering contracts, and stop offering contract prices? How much do you think people would cry if they had to pay $700/phone? It is a priviledge, not a right, for you to pay even $300 for the phone you want.
...
Good point...makes the $300 seem like chump change! I'm kind of glad the US has contracts for wireless carriers. I wonder what the carriers pay for the devices themselves...not MSRP.
...
Closer than you'd think. There's about a $40-60 markup from invoice to "full retail." The rest is subsidized from the contract, of course, but the invoice price of the VZW Thunderbolt, for instance, is about $540.
...
That's some real brainwashing your employer has done on you. The real privilege is for Verizon to have customers. That's the only "privilege" here. Raping customers will only cause them to lose that privilege.
...
I'm not brain washed. So you think that all carriers should HAVE to give you that special pricing? What if all carriers had no contracts, no special pricing, and you had to pay full price for your phone regardless of where you got service? If everywhere you went 4G smartphones were $600-$700 would everything be ok then? It's not brain washing, it's simple economics.
...
no thats a retarded idea
...
What's retarded? The idea of paying full price for the phone or the idea that companies should take a loss on the sale of a phone to have you as a customer?
...
Paying 500 or more for a phone when you can save money over two years for that phone noone can pay that price for a phone
...
Use verifiable facts and logical principles, not indiscriminate BS.
No one does pay that price for the phone, except Verizon from the manufacturer. They pass savings on to you if you agree to the contract.
I feel like I'm typing to a brick wall....
...
It's not that no one CAN pay that price, they pay more for TVs, but WILL they? Some do to avoid a contract...
...
People pay for tvs because they have more of a need
...
More need for TV than a phone?!?!? Sorry, gotta disagree. When you are stranded on the interstate, broken down, do you want your cellphone or your TV? How about when a flood destroys your home? Plus my phone can BE a tv AND a phone. My tv is only a tv. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my tv, but NEED it. NOPE.
...
Just think people would like to pay more for a tv than a phone
...
Because they CAN pay more for a TV than a phone, but if the contracts went away and you had to pay $600-$700 for phones and that was just how it was, I think there would be a lot less of both bought. Not everyone could afford both...
...
I dont think people would buy a cell phone then. they would just start using a home phone that they have with their cable but never use
...
Its not simple economics or special pricing. It's simply your opinion which sounds like it was spoon fed to you by your sales manager. Your answer to the astounding price for this underwhelming product is "Suck it up Mr Customer, it's your privilege to pay this much. We could charge you $600 for your privilege! How dare you question this"!
?????
Shill.
...
you're right since when is it a privilege for a adult to get a phone. Its a right for someone for being a human being whether they "deserve it or not"
...
Apparently you have no idea about how cell phone companies operate.May I remind you that A) Verizon is not a non-profit company B) These are high dollar phones C) People are willing to pay these prices. If I sell you a bottle of water for $3.00 and you are willing to pay it, am I ripping you off or supplying you with a product that's in high demand?
...
Let's go back to talking about electronic devices, not services, companies, or contracts. A Samsung tv does not cost the same as an LG, Sony, or Curtis. The manufacturer makes the device, puts their cool new technology in it and says this TV cost the Seller $XXX.XX. The Seller then says we need to make X% on that TV so they price it accordingly. Go to an electronics store and price TVs. Talk to the sales rep and see if they don't sell you the features and benefits of that tv. If you find value in what they are telling you, the price becomes agreeable to you.
Now the cellphone company is the same, however, they have given another option if the steep price of full retail is too much, they will pay for part of the phone if they can get your p...
(continues)
...
Because A contract is a way saying you will be with us for two years and not run away with your brand new phone just because something is wrong
...
Contract also means they are gonna get the rest of the money that they paid for the phone you just got a huge discount on.
...
yea which is why its better because you save your money over time thats why full price is retarded
...
So not signing a contract is retarded? IMO signing contracts is kind of a stupid idea for phones. Think of the amount of headaches we would save if there were no upgrades to wait for. Plan pricing could be lowered so we could all save money, the money that we saved could then either be put towards purchasing a phone that we want or it could be put towards other things when we are tight on money. This paired with universal phones that would completely work on all carriers would be the perfect scenario for me! Then you could use any carrier you want at any time.
...
Who the hell would buy a phone for this price its just like the galaxy s 4g (which is less inexpensive) but a better camera WHOOP DEE DOOO
...
Ask ANYBODY with a Verizon branded 32 GB iPhone.
Why hasn't anybody noticed this? the 32GB iPhone is the same price as this phone!!
...
Good point! And would you rather pay that for a 32GB iPhone or a 4G Samsung Charge? Gotta go with the Charge, just does more.
...
Definitely agree I love Android better than apple way more 😎 😎 😎 😎
